New Daily Task System - Overwhelmed, Whelmed or Underwhelmed?

  • I'm retired and I live in a bungalow. Any other suggestions? ;)

A bungalow without a basement? No man cave... tsss :P

    He shed... LOL.

So im getting close to the 2500 limit so I figured might as well turn in some points..

ya you can only claim each reward once a week.. WUT!

Most of your rewards are garbage.. i repeat GARBAGE!!!

Change now plx and i'll forgo the public floggings of the development team.

Agreed! The quantity of units don't fill a slot. That undermines any effort to educate people on the combat system. I suppose it's better than wasting ambrosia on population packs!

Don't forget the fantabulous event that was dangled to us once the mergers were completed and the disrespect towards any squeaky wheel.

  • Why is the Research Point reward so low? For 500 favour I can get 3,500 RPs. For 150 Favour I can get 22,000 crystal, which I can convert into 11,000 to 22,000 RPs with an Experiment. I'm guessing that someone forgot to scale the RP reward.

I guess GF divided the reward based on groups in total score or number of colonies or something else, IDK. Obviously not all players get the same rewards.

It's been predominately based upon Town Hall level of your Capital.

More established accounts have 1:1 ratio.

And where do you get the 4am from? The reset is at 8am.

Since I am playing a US server and live in the US (unlike the player who posted 4am), I think it is reasonable that I should expect that the reset would happen when I am likely to be awake. Some people work nights, so it is not possible to have a set time that works for everyone, but not everyone in the US lives on the east coast, For me (Pacific Time), the server reset is 5am. For Hawaii, it's 2am.

I suppose since the goal is to get players to be more active, doing the reset at peak usage is counter-productive, but certainly it should be after Hawaii (sorry Guam) wakes up.

  • If Gameforge can program that they can program to exclude all impossible tasks.

Yeah the math isn't adding up on some of these rewards lol. I can get 10 steam giants for 450 favor, or I can get 22,000 sulphur for 150 favor and build 250 steam giants with it xD. The one day hammers and drills aren't worth it either unless you have 10 towns of that resource. I have 2 sulphur towns so the one day steam sulphur only nets me an extra 16k sulphur for 700 favor. While the 22,000 sulphur reward only costs 150. But I suppose that's why they limit you to one reward per week, or I'd just load up on those one time resource rewards, which you could do with the old system.

As far as what they can program, yeah they already have other checks in place for other things, so you know they can do it. The rewards are higher on my larger account, so there's some code in place checking stuff already. As far as my 24h clock idea starting when a person clicks it, they're already doing that with the cinetheater. The 12h clock starts after you watch the video and not at a set time everyday.

And there's definitely a bug with the passive resource task, as was pointed out earlier, and it seems to only happen if you're already logged in during the daily reset. It doesn't start counting until you check the tasks or hit refresh (or log in/out). I got screwed on the sulphur this time. I'm collecting enough to reach 118k in 24h, but after 10.5 hours, this should say 52k sulphur collected, so I'm going to miss the goal, like I did with the wine last time.

  • Just spotted an oddity: you can only select one of the one day luxury resource boosters that are applicable to the town you're in. You can't choose to boost Marble if you're in a Wine town, even if you have a Marble town. You have to switch to the Marble town first, then you can select it.

Yes, that was also the case before the patch, and that's why there was a doubt about if the boosters applied only to the current city or to all. Now at least there is a text at the top that says boosters apply to all towns.

I seldom used the boosters in the old system as the resource drops were much better for me, but this feels very familiar. I don't think this aspect has changed.

With regards to the size of the rewards. 22k of marble is about 0.6% of the amount need for my next Townhall expansion. 3500 Research points is about 0.06% of the next Future research I want to do. This would vary markedly between players, but it does seem like the Research rewards is a little low by a factor of 10.

The gold reward of 65K is about what the resources would cost to produce, so that is okay by me :-)

The troop rewards are low by this standard, as others have noted. A full row would be nice, or an equivalent number proportional to the resource rewards.

  • In reference to the last few posts: the update has a cap of 2500pts, but you don't lose them like the pervious task system. You just can't get more than 2500. Personally, I like this as it means the formerly lost points I had at the end of each week are now saved and usable.

The tasks each have a seperate 7 day cool down, which you can check by hovering your mouse over the button. Several have the option to use ambrosia to complete. 4 ambro for the passive collection tasks, and 8 for some of the easy ones.

While I liked the old systems ability to repeatedly select just one reward ( usually wine or marble for me) the new system has got me picking almost everything. And I have even been tempted to use 4 ambro to compete the final passive and get the 100pt bonus... it is better use than buying the resources in the shop. Objectively speaking, it has made me more active with the variety of tasks and upend the routine I'd established for several years. ( Trade, raid, pillage the village, collect some wine, repeat )

As badidol wrote, the system rewards those who play.

But those who play, most likely use the system to increase a resource they particularly need EVERY DAY !!! Not just once a week ....

This is absolutely counterproductive in my opinion
