Is this Wheel of Fortune for Real ?

  • So I see this "ad" last night for what seems to be a special feature coming up where players get a chance to spin a wheel and maybe get a prize form it. Ok, great I think to myself. This is a nice things for GF to do with Christmas coming and all that, right ? This way everyone can take part and actually enjoy something equally. So ok, wake up this morning, and look to see if it's on yet, and head to the Shop.. and I am all set to play then notice.. You have to pay to play....


    There was no mention of that on the really nice ad for it. So this is not for everyone, only for players with the money to buy ambro, can they play Kinda stupid to me to have something like this as a special feature and not make it for everyone to play.


    Doesn't matter how anyone just to justify this, this is a total fail. Thanks GF for giving something that -everyone- regardless of financial situations, could enjoy with the holidays coming on..

    You do realize that made absolutely no sense at all, and is not even the same thing by any means. Like seriously..if you're not going to actually say something smart and have an objective point of view on a topic without sounding like an entitled child throwing a tantrum because poor people think some things should be shared by everyone ?


    Like seriously, if this is all you're going to do is throw out these types of comments to justify financial inequalities and special service reserved only for the rich who can afford it during a season where "giving" is SUPPOSED TO BE THE SPIRIT OF IT ALL, then yes please, don't bother. but thanks for trying.

    No mention of ambrosia, it’s the month of Christmas meaning giving. Uses the word prizes. Yes I too expected some fun free game. Maybe once a day free spin, use favor for additional spin. Not needing 25 ambrosia for some not so inspiring ‘prizes’

    it seems to me that you need 25 of ambrosia for each round .... but it is normal ...

    no ambrosia ... no game ...

    it could not existe a completly free game ...

And before the very first merger and before GF started adding more variety in ambro items.. there was not a whole lot.. people didn't really buy lots back then.. and yet the game was in better shape then than it is today.. figure that one out. No Ambro means better game, or at least it did back then, unlike now. And using arguments about it being a "shop" means there -has- to be a price is ridiculous and backward thinking. then again why am i not surprised at this kind of thinking at Christmas time, especially from GF right ?


    It's things like this which discourages me from actually spending a bit for ambro to give back to GF for the years of playing this game. I guess GF doesn't know that spirit of Xmas after all.

    Ya too bad they didn't offer it up free or paid for by favor during holidays but oh well.

    Side note: I do wish the favor rewards could be banked as inventory items.. that would be cool.

  • Tried my luck, played twice today.

    First time, I won 1 x 10 days of Steam Sulphur Paddle Wheel (sulphur extraction increased for 10 days). I have no town on sulphur.

    Second time, I won 1 Premium Trader. I take Premium traders when they are cheap, like 7 ambro.


    Spent one wheel on 1x10 days sulphur that doesn't help and 1 overpriced Premium Trader.

    They display the fact that you can win 500k wood but, in fact, from 50 spent ambro, I lost 43: sulphur extraction doesn't help me, because I don't have town on sulphur, and 1 premium trader i take for 7 ambro with 50% discount.


    Did I learned my lesson? I will play two more; one wheel is 25, let's say 100 for a full lesson. If the result will be the same, will throw that to garbage.


    EDIT: played 3th time. I won +25k Wine.

    My hourly wine extraction is over 9k, so I won the wine that I extract in less then 3 hours. Bad joke to pay 25 ambro for that.


    This wheel of fortune is not stupid. Stupid am I, expecting to win the lottery, when i have 100 million total points. It looks like is made for small players, who would care about small prizes, or a new server, where 25k wine would matter.


    Good for beginners.

  • It is not a bad feature overall, but the rewards could scale with player level, just like they do for daily tasks.


    Also there could be a free spin as a reward for 7th day of login (there used to be some free ambrosia you could get for free if you login every day for 7 days during holidays season couple of years back). Also this could be a neat marketing trick as you are more likely to "gamble" again if you win something for free, so a free spin per player could be beneficial to company overall. at least this is how casinos get you to spend your money with them.

    Actually i ve read on the english discord channel that Badidol was talking about introducing more levels of the Wheel. Each level with higher rewards than the previous one

    any form of gambling is bad

    cant find the odds for each item which is illegal in a lot a places

    i've never thought of seeing the day where loot boxes came to ikariam
