    Guide to the inactivity phases


    When you don't use your account for some time, it becomes "inactive", then if inactivity continues, account is deleted or "graveyarderd", as explained in the previous post.


    There are 4 different phases concerning inactivity:

    • Phase 0 (Hour 0 to Hour 24): If you don't build anything in the 24 hours after registration, you get deleted
    • Phase 1 (First week after registration): You become inactive after 2 days with no login, you get graveyarded 2 days later.
    • Phase 2 (Week 2 until 1 Month): you become inactive after 7 days with no login, you get graveyarded 4 days later.
    • Phase 3 (1 Month until 3 Months): You become inactive after 7 days with no login, you get graveyarded 14 days later
    • Phase 4 (3 Month until end of times): You become inactive after 7 days with no login, you get graveyarded 30 days later

    What is saved after the graveyarding?

    • All player information
    • All city information
    • Upgrades
    • Government form gets reset to ikacracy
    • Archive gets saved
    • Validation state gets saved
    • Highscores get saved


    What is not saved?

    • Alliance info gets deleted
    • Amount of workers, researches and priests does not get saved. They become normal citizens again
    • Trade post offers get removed

    Who is not get saved?

    • Players who have used the "delete my account" option in the game
    • Banned players with no paid ambrosia
    • Players getting deleted in inactivity phase 0.


    NOTE: if at the graveyarding moment you have some premium features active, the graveyarding phase is delayed until they expire.

    Graveyarding is the new ghosting


    In the past, after some inactivity time, a user account was "ghosted": it was removed from the map, but reinstated at the first login. This does not happen anymore. Since the introduction of the "Soft Merge", the Ghosting was replaced by "Graveyading". In other words, when the inactivity timeframe is reached, the account is not "ghosted" anymore. Instead, it is moved to a "graveyard server", Asphodel. This is an unplayable server where all the (ex) ghosted accounts are moved.


    This is the graveyarding procedure:

    • When an account is inactive for too long, following the "ghosting phases" described in the next post, it is not ghosted anymore, but it is "graveyarded".
    • The account that - in the past - was ghosted, now it is copied to Asphodel, blocked on the original server via special ban ("Account transfer") and put in deletion mode. In 7 days the account will be definitively deleted. Note: the transfer and the deletion do not necessarily happen at the exact scheduled time. In fact, the account is put on a queue both for transfer and for deletion, so in some busy servers, the delay can be quite long.
    • From now on, the player sees in the Lobby a new server Asphodel ("Graveyard Server") with the normal button "play" on it, as if it was another normal server
    • If the account was banned before the graveyarding, it remains banned also on Asphodel until the ban expires. Note that Game Staff can't review, change, access the ban, or manage the accounts on Asphodel.
    • If the account was not banned, the user can login on to Asphodel. As soon as he logins, a popup appears telling him that the server is unplayable, asking to move the account to another server. No other actions are possible.
    • The player can explore a destination server OR decide to move the account on a chosen server
    • The target server can be on any community and on any server (e.g. if an account was graveyarded on s1-en, it can be revived on s2-bg)
    • It is impossible to go on a target server if the account lands on the top 50, if the username already exists, or if there are no free slots.
    • After the transfer, the player will have the Premium Account active for 7 days, and full town relocation items in the inventory.

    after a couple of years, your beloved Contest.ORGaniser is back to let you have fun with our classical Xmas Contest. Starting from Tuesday 21th of December, a 5-days contest will take place. Rules, as usual, are simple:

    1. The contest is open to everyone (not only to Ikariam UK players), and it will span from 21st to 25th of December 2021.
    2. Participants will have to answer some Ikariam-related questions, or solve some puzzles, to gain some points.
    3. Question(s) will be posted DAILY, at ANYTIME and you will have 48 hours to answer them. There will be a total of 5 questions.
    4. Each question can let you gain a variable amount of points
    5. The 7 users who, at the contest end, have the higher score, will be rewarded with coupons that can be spent on all Gameforge games (e.g. to buy Ambrosia, Dark Matter, etc)
    6. In case of ties, we will have a tie-break question. And if a tie persists, then we will look at the time when that last answer was sent :)

    What prizes will be awarded?


    • 1st prize: 20€ Gameforge coupons
    • 2nd prize: 16€ Gameforge coupons
    • 3rd prize: 10€ Gameforge coupons
    • 4th and 5th prize: 6€ Gameforge coupons

    I'm sorry, in Ikariam UK the answer is no, no diacritics at all.


    We already had in the past discussions about "what" to consider as valid diacritics and what is not: we tried to define a set of diacritics, but constantly, there was someone who looked for a way to circumvent this rule, WITH success, to become unsearchable using a UK/US keyboard. Since we can't spend our time checking any username, verifying if it is searchable or not, and since the language in Ikariam UK is English, it's easy: you can't use non-English character sets or diacritics in the username. It's a simple and clear rule.


    If you want to name you "génie" or "Spīgana", then you cannot, I'm sorry: you will have to rename you "genius" or "witch" (or remove the diacritics or use another name). As stated in the forum, this does not apply to villages, with some other limitations, but usernames must be plain ASCII. Full stop.


    Anyway, we are not here to ban just for fun or without warning you before. Due to the merge, we sent out a "yellow message" to everybody to remind the rule. Indeed, we also send a further friendly reminder to the people who didn't accomplish the request, and if nothing changes, we ban 9999 days with Contact Me, to let the player poke us via ticket system to have the account released under the condition to change the username

    After 2 years... still Ubuntu 14.04 LTS :D I'll change to 22.04 in the next months, as soon as it's released.

    At the same time, I have some Raspberry, wiht Raspbian / Raspberry Pi OS, used as DLNA server for the family and shared via Plex, and for retrogaming :)

    JuneBarcarolle correct: feel free to open a ticket, we need to know who had the problem, in order to report it in our internal bug tracker and help devs in their work. Anyway, it's just a matter of time, ships will return as soon as the bug is fixed.

    Just to be clear once more, this is the current situation (at about 15:40 game time aka GMT+1):


    • "I'm banned" --> It's ok, on the exodus server the account is banned for Account transfer. No need to open a ticket
    • "I'm in vmode" --> It's ok, a script removes hourly (at xx:05) the vmode to every transferred account, so the players just have to wait the 5th minute of the hour. No need to open a ticket.
    • "My fleet is missing" recognised --> it seems a problem due to an event handler that does not work properly on some servers. Working on it, no need to open a ticket.
    • "My city buildings are mixed up / city list is unordered" --> User must live with that. No need to open a ticket.
    • "I can't transfer all the cities after the merge" --> recognised, open a ticket to have it fixed.
    • "I don't receive the email after the click on the blue message" --> partially recognised. devs are working on it. Rumours says that the e-mail confirmation problem happens for those who recently changed their e-mail.
    • "I can't merge due to the alliance name" --> recognised, devs are working on it.
    • "I receive a page 404 when accessing login page" recognised --> restore of a backup is on the way. Devs are working on it
    • "target server is running a different game version." recognised --> devs are working on it

    EDIT: unluckily, as badidol said on Discord, everything works fine on QA servers, the testers can do a lot of checks and everything runs correctly. But when everything goes live you discover that test servers are not like live servers. And react differently.

Since only Game Admins can send out "yellow messages" in-game, it is up to them to decide if/when they should bother the users. Some communities decided to send it out, some not: since in on our one (EN), in general, we prefer to annoy the players only on really important issues and, in this case, we thought it was worth it, then we decided to send out... 26 yellow messages. It was our own decision, but technically we didn't have to do it.

    Will there be any kind of Peace time? like its not fun to get on this server and all just jump you, ppl need some time to settel..

    No, sorry: there is no such thing on the game's code.

    About the merge itself (and any other event, like new servers, happy days, etc) GF informs us exactly when we have to drop the post, along with all the related details. On doubt, you ask, we ask, GF answers, we inform you. So - please - be patient, we are still working for you.


    Finally, you're right, everything can *always* be done differently. Having further time, further devs, further resources (and all of them are really rare, limited and precious) it's possible to do a lot of things. But we don't have to lose touch with reality.

    we are still receiving details about the merge, and we are submitting your requests upper level and to the devs in order to have all the specific details. So please, be patient, thanks :)


    -Spartan at the moment we have no idea where the players will move, even if there are some rumours about some specific servers. You can join Discord and discuss with other players

    Lili  LegendaryKiller I just asked CoMa / Devs and yes, if you have an account A e.g. on s1-lv and B on s2-lv you can merge them both on ikariam UK on s1-en and have both accounts A and B on alpha UK.

    Currently, it is not possible to move game accounts from a lobby to another one. E.g. if you - user X - have a game account A and a game account B on the same lobby X, you can't move game account B on the lobby Y of user Y.
