    Hi Salah Ad-Din

    I completely understand your concern. From GameForge's perspective, having different nuances in the enforcement of rules across communities can indeed be problematic, especially for players who are active in more than one community. Of course, we would all prefer a unified, shared, well-defined approach to rule enforcement. However, the various communities currently function like separate twin cells: very similar to one another, all born from the same "mother" (GameForge), but each with some small differences. That said, we obviously do have some well-stated internal international guidelines that all communities must follow, so these differences are usually quite minimal, but sometimes... quite unexpected.

    That's exactly why I appreciated your suggestion. You're right, clarifications or examples published only in English can create an unfair advantage for players who know the language. One possible solution might be to translate all examples and clarifications (just as we've done with the official game rules). But of course, we'll need to take things step by step. :)

    Hi all,

    just my 5 cents

    SoSo sure: you can't own multiple lobbies and play 20 accounts on the same server! If we notice it, we have to stop that player and, in the worst case, ban them all. So, you are right: let us know, we'll do the rest.

    Salah Ad-Din , you are right, there isn't a single place where all the information is centralised, e.g. pros and cons caused by the rules, detailed examples about what is allowed and what is forbidden, what activity is legal and what is considered unfair, etc.

    Furthermore, some communities take some rules in a more relaxed way, others in a stricter way. E.g., in some communities you can't activate IP-Sharing by yourself: you must ask a GO and/or send a declaration via ticket system (and if you do it by yourself, like in our community, you risk being banned). On multi, some communities ban just the involved players when noticed, others extend the ban to all the accounts in the lobby. Some communities let people create multiple accounts (if correctly IP-shared) to pump up the mines, some other consider it unfair. Insults have a "regional taste": e.g. in some cases, what we consider name-calling is considered insulting, and vice-versa.

    So the risk, and I agree with you, is that what is "normal" in one community is considered unfair or inappropriate in another, or vice versa, and this is something we (as GF admins and upper) should work on together, to harmonise the communities (if possible!). Anyway, such differences are generally minor and related to borderline cases, so if you don't push your accounts near the limits, you normally don't have any particular issue. Then it's important, in case you're unsure, to open a ticket and ask the GOs, or, for minor info, join Discord and ask directly for clarification.

    A personal note. To be honest, I really like this idea of having a centralised place with all the rules and examples (e.g. the one explained by User12996), eventually with "regional fine-tuning", but you know, in some cases, it could turn out to be a bit of a double-edged sword. Some things we currently manage in a way might suddenly need a more restrictive revision, not just the other way around. Well, I'll quietly drop the idea on the BigBoss™'s desk (er... badidol FYI ). Who knows, if the stars align and no one's in a bad mood that day, maybe something good will come out of it. 😄

    Jokes aside, it's definitely something worth thinking about...

    Cheers,

    Sampisa

    Ciao,

    Dear players,

    new servers will open their gates on the 9th of February, 2024.

    As per your vote on Discord #polls-and-questions they will have the following setting:

    • 10% more income on all resources including building materials
    • scientists create 75% more research points
    • researches cost 10% less research points

    In particular, the server on Ikariam UK will be named "Hekabe" and the one on Ikariam US will be named "Hera".

    Your Ikariam Team

    Dear Players,
    during the night unfortunately on a few servers the hardware crashed completely and took out the redundancies along with it.

    We used the most recent backup still available (16.11.2023 00:00), but as said before, since the crash also affected the redundancies, 24h of progress were lost on those servers.

    The following servers were affected:
    * BR 1 (Alpha)
    * DE 203 (Ares)
    * EN 43 (Zelos)
    * EN 46 (Hydra)
    * EN 53 (Eurydike)
    * IL 26 (Asklepios)

    Unfortunately there is no way to set this straight, as no redundancies for the redundancies exit. This means, that all progress made during these 24 hours is, unfortunately, lost for good. We're sorry for this inconvenience.
    As a slight compensation we will be activating a 50% bonus on the income of all resources of this server for 36 hours, starting at 09:00 CET (and ending on 18.11.2023 21:00). The construction of buildings will also be 50% faster.

    Guide to the inactivity phases

    When you don't use your account for some time, it becomes "inactive", then if inactivity continues, account is deleted or "graveyarderd", as explained in the previous post.

    There are 4 different phases concerning inactivity:

    • Phase 0 (Hour 0 to Hour 24): If you don't build anything in the 24 hours after registration, you get deleted
    • Phase 1 (First week after registration): You become inactive after 2 days with no login, you get graveyarded 2 days later.
    • Phase 2 (Week 2 until 1 Month): you become inactive after 7 days with no login, you get graveyarded 4 days later.
    • Phase 3 (1 Month until 3 Months): You become inactive after 7 days with no login, you get graveyarded 14 days later
    • Phase 4 (3 Month until end of times): You become inactive after 7 days with no login, you get graveyarded 30 days later

    What is saved after the graveyarding?

    • All player information
    • All city information
    • Upgrades
    • Government form gets reset to ikacracy
    • Archive gets saved
    • Validation state gets saved
    • Highscores get saved
    • Ambrosia gets saved

    What is not saved?

    • Alliance info gets deleted
    • Amount of workers, researches and priests does not get saved. They become normal citizens again
    • Trade post offers get removed

    Who is not get saved?

    • Players who have used the "delete my account" option in the game
    • Banned players with no paid ambrosia
    • Players getting deleted in inactivity phase 0.

    NOTE: if at the graveyarding moment you have some premium features active, the graveyarding phase is delayed until they expire.

    Graveyarding is the new ghosting

    In the past, after some inactivity time, a user account was "ghosted": it was removed from the map, but reinstated at the first login. This does not happen anymore. Since the introduction of the "Soft Merge", the Ghosting was replaced by "Graveyading". In other words, when the inactivity timeframe is reached, the account is not "ghosted" anymore. Instead, it is moved to a "graveyard server", Asphodel. This is an unplayable server where all the (ex) ghosted accounts are moved.

    This is the graveyarding procedure:

    • When an account is inactive for too long, following the "ghosting phases" described in the next post, it is not ghosted anymore, but it is "graveyarded".
    • The account that - in the past - was ghosted, now it is copied to Asphodel, blocked on the original server via special ban ("Account transfer") and put in deletion mode. In 7 days the account will be definitively deleted. Note: the transfer and the deletion do not necessarily happen at the exact scheduled time. In fact, the account is put on a queue both for transfer and for deletion, so in some busy servers, the delay can be quite long.
    • From now on, the player sees in the Lobby a new server Asphodel ("Graveyard Server") with the normal button "play" on it, as if it was another normal server
    • If the account was banned before the graveyarding, it remains banned also on Asphodel until the ban expires. Note that Game Staff can't review, change, access the ban, or manage the accounts on Asphodel.
    • If the account was not banned, the user can login on to Asphodel. As soon as he logins, a popup appears telling him that the server is unplayable, asking to move the account to another server. No other actions are possible.
    • The player can explore a destination server OR decide to move the account on a chosen server
    • The target server can be on any community and on any server (e.g. if an account was graveyarded on s1-en, it can be revived on s2-bg)
    • It is impossible to go on a target server if the account lands on the top 50, if the username already exists, or if there are no free slots.
    • After the transfer, the player will have the Premium Account active for 7 days, and full town relocation items in the inventory.

    NOTE: The whole procedure (from the user PoV) is on our guide: Getting an account out of Asphodel

    Your Ikariam Team

    After 2 years... still Ubuntu 14.04 LTS :D I'll change to 22.04 in the next months, as soon as it's released.

    At the same time, I have some Raspberry, wiht Raspbian / Raspberry Pi OS, used as DLNA server for the family and shared via Plex, and for retrogaming :)

    JuneBarcarolle correct: feel free to open a ticket, we need to know who had the problem, in order to report it in our internal bug tracker and help devs in their work. Anyway, it's just a matter of time, ships will return as soon as the bug is fixed.

    WeP we don't give details about other players, for privacy reasons. This user can be in vmode for lot of reasons: e.g. it's maintained by GF in vmode if he has a special ban, or the user was unbanned, logged in and entered in vacation, or he was banned, unbanned and rebanned, no idea. Anyway, if you want to give us further details, and you are referring to a UK/EN server, you can open a ticket at Support System and provide further details (server, username, etc). We will check if there is an anomaly or not

    Sampisa

    Just a little clarification. If the banned user has some Ambrosia enhancements still active, e.g. Steam Saw, Premium or other timed features, the ghosting phase is delayed until the enhancements expire. E.g. if an account activates a 60days Steam Saw and it is banned the day after the activation, then it will be ghosted in two months. See Guide to the Ghosting Phases of the Game for further details.

    Fraud bans are placed by Gameforge itself and are payments-related: as Game Staff, we don't manage (and we don't know) anything about the Ambrosia shopping or usage, so everything related to such bans is not under our control at all.

    Cheers

    EDIT - embio the "pillory" with the list of banned users has been removed a long time ago, so it's not possible to know if another player has been banned (and why) or it is on vacation.
