Is Alpha an EN or an US server ?
When I am on the login screen it seems to be an US server ?!?!
Edit : seems we will get Hydra & Sirens update followed after some time by a server merger. Might become confusing
There are Alpha us & Alpha EN servers. When you are on your game screen look at the URL. The english will be EN.ikariam
Merging 5 months old servers with older servers speaks volumes about the money grab those servers are and how little gameforge cares about them, you open them for the money and have 0 purpose for them; one of the greediest game companies i have ever seen. Also a wild guess after the merge: you will still open a new server every month.
You allowed people to let their multis to go to the graveyard to spam regaining donation wood and you made that seem like a "feature" because of course you were not capable to fix anything, and now you deny everyone's chance to keep the progress of that "feature" by creating a new server instead of merging with the existing ones as it happened in the past. That was a very big and unfair advantage, but you allowed it and is your fault for not taking measures timely.
Why exactly you give server bonuses if i come from a server that had none before, if i wanted a faster pace i would have joined the new servers. Why deny my progression by changing the pace of old servers? of course, as time goes by there should be means of faster ways of progression, but this is pure laziness to just give older servers a server boost.
For me this merge is pure garbage and gameforge gives 0 lucks about its player base, they just want to reduce costs after creating ghost servers, that were never ment to develop, just to be milked. I don't even want the server boost, i want to remain on my classic server.
Ikariam, and any other mobile game with microtransactions, has always been about being a money grab.
I imagine the server consolidation is more about how ambro is selling less so they need to consolidate the servers to increase competition.
I'm on a new server and without trying I'm in the top 50. Why? Because I simply didn't stop playing the game while everyone else did.
I don't consider this a money grab game. It is very much still available and usable for the free to play. Many mobile games on phones and stuff are not designed for free to play and really have no chance of playing without spending a hundred dollars a month minimum if not more. Gameforge can't run the game for free unfortunately and they need to do something in order to increase competition which is why they do the server merges.
I agree and in the beginning they only sold things that made playing the game easier, but the bar has definitely slid towards more of a cash grab over the years. I'm not saying it's a bad deal for F2P, but there are a lot more P2W options than there used to be.
Personally, I'm indifferent towards it.

It's not just the merge stress. People on boring, sleepy servers all of a sudden are in a really active server. Not everyone enjoys being on a really active server.
Also, the 4 servers they gave us really aren't great. There's 1 builder, 3 fighter servers. All the builders are going to try to dog pile into the first option because there's no build time redux in any of the other options.
The last merge I went through, that's when I lost most of my friends. We went from a quiet, sleepy part of the server to a really noisy server.It also doesn't help that for EN, they're condensing 14 servers into 4 and at least Alpha and Zephyros are really full.

There is 1 EPIC fight server and 3 smaller ones.
Since everybody will want to go with setting one, I assure you it will be more bloody than any war server.
On paper it sounds like a farmer sever, in reality it holds the most valuable resources - wood and marble! Pillaging there will be way more often than options 2,3,4. and ships will actually bring back res this time. Cost of troops is doubled? Big deal, with 25% more wood you can up the sulfur mine and compensate the cost. Or sell some marble and compensate the cost. Or just build one or two more towns on sulfur and compensate the costs.
If GF actually thought about it, they'd offer 4 EQUAL servers and let players populate them, but they made only one and masked it as 4. -
Yes, that's what I'm concerned with, too. It seems like setting 1 is clearly bait to try and get everyone to go there because it has the best options and the other 3 options aren't even remotely comparable.
Even the two option settings seem like also bait because option 1 is much better than option 2.

Not to mention in FUTURE merges (i expect them) the option one server will be boosting new and old accounts as crazy cuz of the 25% wood/marble bonus.
4 years on it with PAN blessing and you may see a sawmines lv 50-60, accounts with 50- 100mil master builder score and maxed Futures (25)
4 years with such bonus are like 5 years.
Meanwhile the other 3 severs....hahaha they will be eventually merged again with The One and be small beans compared to it. They would stand no chance eventually and be obliterated by a top alliance. -
As they're combining them all, we're most likely going to see that regardless. At least in en, there are people already with a 260m score.

when they last merged us, we had top players with 40mil scores and some 87mil (cap) guys came over

The two accounts came with their own alliance and it was top 3 vs new 1 alliance war .

Yeah, I was gonna say, I can't imagine that they'd be able to do much if the entire server is against them.

No, it works for both trade ships and freighters from what I've tested.

Does server-wide higher/lower costs to build troops/ships impact damage as reported in the battle report and attack points / defense points? I would expect it would, because the base-cost is different.

Will the new target servers have the same Wonders on the same islands as the old servers?
So that maybe we can choose beforehand the exact coordinates we are going to move our cites (if we are fast enough that is).
