except from citizens and trading, what kind of ways can I acquire gold? I seem to be unable to even get to a million, yet people with similar stats ton mine have millions easily.

The gold can be gained from:
- free citizens
- trading post by selling resources
- black market by selling units and ships
However do not underestimate the power of free citizens. If you are in lack of gold, make sure your museum is full, tavern serves the max wine and remove all (or part of) workers in sawmills, mines, academies and temples. The higher level of townhall, the more citizens you can have and therefore the larger gold incomes.

If you want to be a rich in this game, like REALLY RICH.. you need to have friends, STRONG friends with connections..

i dont have a lack of gold.. but i want to have wealth.. how can sell on the black market?

How about creating an ally an have massive players in it? It gives you rescources daily, so another way to save workers............

can you be more specific? what do you mean by ally? how does and what does give resources daily?

As a leader you get a small amount of resources daily for each alliance member.

Ask someone who has a bank multi account to give you millions of gold.
