Pillage sliders

  • Probably been suggested before but I'd like to see pillage resource sliders on pillages.

Sometimes you're hitting a target and you really just want one resource type, or in a war you may want to focus on lowering someones sulfur or wine.

I think this suggestion would be a quality of life improvement for players and also enhance the tactics already used in war.

one of two ways to do this from what I can see.

#1 during the loading period you're able to choose which resources to pillage from.. it could work similar to how the premium trader works where you can move the sliders to meet the maximum cargo space out of whats lootable, if you aren't online or don't use this option then it defaults to the normal even distribution.

    OR

#2 have the sliders on the outbound pillage window so I could prioritize which resources are pillaged first.

example there would be a list of the 5 resources, from #1 to #5

The sliders could either be % based, or a fixed number. both would be nice but I don't think it matters which the dev's want to use, either system would work.

so I could say I want at least 50k marble, or the slider could be % based and I'll say reserve 60% of the cargo space for marble.

The game would execute the list in priority, if you only wanted to prioritize 1 resource you could set it to a full cargo load or set other resources to "auto" which would just be like the current system of even distribution.

    here's as real world example

Target has 100k of each resource type.

I have 150k of cargo space for goods

    #1: Marble 100k

    #2: Crystal 20k

    #3: Wine 20k

    #4: Wood 20k

    #5: Sulfur 20k

In this example the pillage will come back with

100k marble, 20k crystal, 20k wine, and 10k wood, no sulfur

because it ran out of space filling the 4th priority of wood, and had NO space left for sulfur

Another example target has 30k marble, 30k wood, 30k wine, 30k sulfur and 30k crystal

we'll use the same 150k cargo space and priority list

In this example my fleet is unable to fulfill the marble order because only 30k of 100k wanted was available to be pillaged

It was able to fill the list 2-5 of 20k each.. however that only accounts for 110k of goods with 40k of cargo space left over.. in this case the remaining 40k will be split evenly based on what's left

so that would be 10k crystal, wood, wine, sulfur

there for my fleet will return with this: 30k marble, 30k wood, 30k wine, 30k crystal, 30k sulfur.

We could also do this with % like

    #1: marble 50%

    #2: crystal 50%

    #3: auto

    #4: auto

    #5: auto

In this example lets say the target has 100k of each goods, and 150k of cargo space

It will come back with 75k (50% of 150k cargo space) of marble, and crystal

if we change the priority a bit to

    #1: marble 50%

    #2: auto

    #3: auto

    #4: auto

    #5: auto

It would come back with the same 75k marble but then evenly distribute resources 2-5 using the remaining 75k of cargo space

I think you get the idea.

It would also be nice if you could set a default pillage priority list so you don't have to change it every time.

    Thoughts?

  • As you said it there is a premium option so you can change your loot to whatever you want...

I undestand that with your way of thinking you are causing more damage to your enemy (drying him out of wine/sulfur) and maybe force him use ambrosia instead of you.. But Gameforge is always supporting the "victims" therefore i don't think that this will ever added.

  • I brought up premium trader as an illustration of what it should look like.

It wouldn't supplant the premium trader though as you'd still want to convert resources you've mined your self or have bought cheaply on the market.

Would still depend on your target actually having available resources to pillage.. it wouldn't convert them at the target just allow you to prioritize whats taken.

Diplomat for Raging Kings [RK] - Eurydike (US)

  • yea but in the bottom line

if you pillage a lot of other staff than the one you like then you would have to use premium trader..

if you have the option to take only marble (for example) then you wont have need for it..

The same time your target if he runs out from wine or sulfur, he would have to use it, in order to cover his needs..

  • ah I see what you're saying you prefer it the way it is then where you get equal resources.

Diplomat for Raging Kings [RK] - Eurydike (US)

  • it isn't what i prefer... you don't get it.. it is that the Gameforge traditionally protects the "victim"

in the past.. if you start an attack... before the victim go in vacation mode.. you could continue the ongoing battle and even loot resources out of him..

it wasn't so easy for the "Victim" to get arround...

now it is possible to survive whitout even having a single unit...

The policy of gameforge is that the "weak" should get options instead of the "strong" and not be forced to do things that he doesn't want..

taking this into considaration, i can understand your point.. but i don't think that it will ever happen...

As far for my opinion on this subject.. i am tending to no... because it will help the players having bots.. to empty the bots.. and let them having enough wine...

  • As far for my opinion on this subject.. i am tending to no... because it will help the players having bots.. to empty the bots.. and let them having enough wine...

how exactly does that work? I've seen plenty of multi abuse.. but automated bots? I don't think I've ran across those before.

i have never used to know exactly... But as far as i know when you have some bots for farming.. their cities need citizens in order to gather resources..and for that they need wine..

if you take them all the wine from the cities, they will run out, they will loose citizens and they will stop gathering resourses

  • Ok im a little confused then, when you said

As far for my opinion on this subject.. i am tending to no... because it will help the players having bots.. to empty the bots.. and let them having enough wine.

I thought you meant the bots would go out and pillage other players for wine..

But if I understand your last post you're saying people could pillage these bot accounts and focus on their wine which would cause them to run out, and the bots stop being able to collect resources..

    is that correct?

Diplomat for Raging Kings [RK] - Eurydike (US)

  • still confused.. lets start over

Who's doing the pillaging here.. the bots attacking players or the players attacking the bots?

and you're saying who ever is doing the pillaging in this scenario will avoid pillaging any wine then?

Diplomat for Raging Kings [RK] - Eurydike (US)

  • Ok.. from the beggining...

There are some people having multies that they used them to harvest resources.

I know it is illegal.. i know that they should got banned for this.. but for several reasons they are getting away and they don't..

These multies work as a normal player.. but they don't have any army or walls..

they create an empire in several islands and they are programmed to send wine in their cities, because in order to harverst resources they need citizens and for the citizens they need wine..

Nowadays one that want to explorer these multies.. has to be carefull what he will leave enough wine for the bots, so they could continue gathering resources..

if he have an option NOT to harvest wine.. but harvest all the other resources... it will be easier for him...

  • alright, multi accounts I get, you thew me with the "bot" part.

why in the world would we care if they get looted? someone with no walls and no army is what I call a farm.. Although I'd still like to pick and choose what I take I'll take everything in the end.

Im not really sure why you would care about these multi accounts as much as you have expressed disapproval of them in the past.

Diplomat for Raging Kings [RK] - Eurydike (US)

  • i am not carying for the multies..

but with the sliders will be easier for the multi owners to pillage them...

For me if someone has over 100,000 goods.. whatever kind it is worth it.. and i will continue looting him until he has zero.. i wouldn't really use the sliders..

I can understand why you want them, they could be usefull... but because this way you could harm even worse the "victim" gameforge will not even thought over it..

  • I see what you're saying now.. you're saying people with accounts setup to farm goods being pillaged by the main account of the owner of the farms.

damn man you gotta be more clear next time.

Unlike a lot of shady mutli use which isn't, That's actually against the rules,
