Ambrosia Purchase Issue

  • Currently there's an 80% bonus for Ambrosia purchaces so i figured "What the Hell" and attempted to buy a bit more for my account. I selected my usual payment method, PayPal as there is usually never an issue with this and proceeded with the purchase - only to be rewarded with a "due to blah blah, there may be some delay"

10mins later, still nothing, so I checked my bank - well, the money was gone from there. i checked paypal and there purchase is there, but is still "pending." Curious, I checked my email only to see:

Unfortunately for security reasons we have temporarily disabled the payment method you selected, in order to protect our customers.

    Well, that sucks.

Okay so my money is in limbo, I don't get my Ambrosia, and PayPal is now blocked as a payment method. Only 5hrs left on that 80% bonus, so reluctantly, I try again with card payment - only to have the exact same issue. No Ambrosia, money is gone from my bank, and an email with the same message as above.

What the F, Gameforge - where is my money?

  • lol I already tired, it doesn't let me log in...

...but, PayPal has now told me I've been refunded, so I guess i have to wait the 3 days turnaround or whatever before I get it back. I assume the direct card paayment will be the same.

Both payment methods are still locked out by the way

  • The other payment sorted itself out and refunded back to me eventually. Both payment methods are still locked out however.

As for "payment support" - it does not let me log in so I didn't bother with it.

  • You should be more open if you want to resolve your problem, instead of saying "it does not let me log in" you can explain what error you have, maybe some print screens.

If you just complain you won't resolve anything, if you want help describe your problem.

  • So I've been in contact with support, and they are demanding a copy of my ID/passport, and bank details.

    LMFAO

Gameforge was the one having issues with the payment system, it was no fault on my end. They have no business knowing my personal details, this is just a browser game. I used Paypal because it is a secure payment method . If Gameforge efuse to fix a system that they broke in the first place, that's fine by me.

Gameforge lose out here since I will just stop making purchases. I was throwing a them a bone coz the deal with good, and purchases help to keep the servers running. But I do not need to buy Ambro to play the game, so no skin off my nose.

It's only normal that they ask these things to verify you and that you are the owner of used payment method. It's your problem that you refuse to follow it (no matter how many LMFAO you will use).

  • While I would agree regarding pay by card, the same does not apply for Paypal. The whole point of Paypal is that one does not have to verify anything. It's taken care of on Paypal's side. The seller never gets to see that information. It's about privacy.

  • The information is correct. My account has been arbitrarily banned by Support staff after I contacted them regarding this issue. They refused to unlock the purchase methods until I provided them personal information and bank details, neither of which I was willing to give. I use Paypal as a payment method because the seller (in this case Gameforge) is not given personal information.

Please understand that, although the payment methods were blocked, my account was not, and I had been playing as normal, albiet as a free player. When I told them if they could not reinstate Paypal without that information, then I would simply stop making Ambrosia purchases, they blocked my game account.

    This is the truth.

I have since been told by other players on my islands that they have also deleted the Helios Towers I had purchased. My account is my own, and has always been mine. My Paypal account has always been secure, there have been no changes over the years I have been playing. I have never had an issue with payment menthods before, and I have certainly never been banned before.

I am currently waiting to hear back from Support regarding this matter. By deleting those towers, they have effectively commited theft, since the Ambrosia used for them was paid soley by myself. Ambrosia I purchaced, through my Paypal account years previously - not a recent purchase that they can claim is suspect.

I do not take this action lightly, and if Support refuses to fix this, then I will be considering legal action.

To update the situation, my account has been reinstated, and my Helios Towers have been returned as little drop packages (similar to rewards from unlocking achievements) which I have placed back on my islands. The ban (and I assume the removal of the Helios Towers) was explained as system error assosicated with this issue.

Purchases will remain blocked unless I am willing to offer up the requested documentation, but as I am a private person I am still reluctant to do so at this time.

Exactly. Keeping your privacy is challenging.

People tend to give (bad) unsolicited advice after seeing a bank statement :S. Few really understand "fiduciary responsibility". Gameforge has none to its customers AND policing PayPal isn't their place...

When the pillory was public, as it should be, accounts were there due to payment issues.

Gameforge is talking out of both sides of their mouth.

They claim to protect privacy when it suits them ...
