How to "kill" a player

  • Hi, I was wondering what is the best way to properly attack a player. There is a player that is annoying me for a while and he doesnt care if I block or occupy his cities. What can I do to really attack him to demoralize him?

  • Na minha Ć©poca (um sĆ©culo atrĆ”s), mantĆnhamos os Portos ocupados ''ad aeternum'' para minar os recursos da criatura.

  • Well, you cannot completely neutralize him. Keeping him blocked and occupied could severe his gameplay a lot BUT he can still function in other ways, especially if he uses Ambrosia.

My advice for your long term well being is, finalize the argument diplomatically and move on. There is little to nothing for you to gain out of such campaign.

  • Block ports and pillage until empty (don't occupy, only block ports). Keep ports blocked and start your day with pillaging all his towns (wine and sulfur are most important targets in this case). Leave enough ships in his ports to counter rebellion to save on gold (but still you will have to keep meaningful amount of war ships in his towns - which does drain your gold). At some point he will start losing citizens due to lack of wine, and smuggling won't be enough to keep up, so he can't produce resources nor recruit new units (at least not meaningful amount). If he is burning trough ambro to keep up, basically he is wasting money on you, so there is nothing else you can do about it...

If you want to also keep him under occupation, you need to remove occupation before pillaging, and then reoccupy the city (extra steps). But either way, most important tools are port blocking and pillaging. However big the warehouses are - at some point - at least - he will run out of wine (that's why your primary target of blockade should be wine cities, and pillaging everything).

If he has colossus, you need to have a rotation ready - but he does need enough ships for at least 2 rounds in order to activate it - so make sure you destroy all ships (block all his cities). Check in from time to time to see if he has produced new ships, and has enough to start multi round rebellion. If you notice him producing war ships (most likely ram ships because they only cost wood, but sulfur cities might have more options (that's why after wine you go straight to sulfur)) then you retreat, remove blockade, and send new blockade straight away.

However, all of this does keep you preoccupied with him, so other parts of your gameplay are going to suffer. I had similar issue - made him go vacation mode, and would greet him with blockades as soon as he gets back. It's a huge bother either way...

UMBRA 's suggestion for diplomacy only works if he has a reason for bothering you (which you should check !!!). If he is doing it out of pure amusement/spite - then blockades are the only option left. If that is the case, it's possible that the server might be inactive so he is looking for something to do with those that are active.

The only legitimate reasons for bothering you are:

    - You are disrupting island faith (you have insufficient amount of priests in your temple)
    - You are not donating to resource production sites

Not so legitimate reasons, but important motivation for such behavior (gray area):
    - You are attacking other players (especially much smaller than you) and this is just a proxy retaliation

    - You are attacking his farm/donor accounts (also proxy retaliation)
    - To push you out of the island(s) (make you abandon colonies on some particular island(s) ) so that they can place their cities there (possibly on main or other multi account)
