Display MoreDisplay MoreThere are some tactics that can discourage a bully. Colossus is a classic. Keeping resources under safe limits.
If the bully is getting loot, he's going to keep coming. I would highly recommend spending down your resources, turning off the mines (or turning them down low enough that you stay under safe storage), and just gold farm.
Also, try to look at the game from the bully's perspective. What is it he's gaining from attacking you? Loot? OPs? A reaction from his victims? Whatever it is, deny him that. Some people play this game simple for the thrill of making others quit. Don't give him that satisfaction.
While I agree in principle, I'd also recommend to not under value graveyarding.
Graveyarding will allow you to leave a problem area and recover to a server and area of your choosing. I will recommend that before you recover from graveyard that you make sure to scout the area out. Again, for your play style, the emptier the server the better.
Plus, if you're going to go into gold mode anyways, there's not much difference. Yes, you won't make as much gold, but you'll get a fresh set of city teleports and all your donations back for your new destination. You can even graveyard and not warp multiple times if you want to stack up warps.
I had a bully come bother me. I attempted diplomacy, he was not interested. I weighed my options, graveyarded, and returned to a different server. On the new server I didn't have to deal with the bully so it was a win/win.
I do feel like a lot of bullies thrive on the ability to bully someone, too, and as War Games taught us, "The only winning move is not to play."
While I've received a lot of ridicule for that tactic, it's because the tactic is highly effective, and generally solves any problem you have.
Are you 100% sure that you get all your donations back ? I have 14 milions in donations (and lvl 50 caves). I thought that if you went away, you would lose your donations. Because otherwise I could go and come back and double my quarries.
I not quit. I am advised to have 100% colossus. Too bad this requires you to be online at the time you are attacked.
Managing resources is impossible. Upgrades require +1M resources. But protected resources are only 76,900 (4 warehouses at 40).
For the "communication with the player" issue: I prefer to avoid. We were friends in the past and I helped him in game and RL in every way possible. I argued with him in every way but to no avail. Now, for my sanity, that person is dead. Anyway, this discussion is not about my relationship with him, but about how to play without having all the resources looted.
Display MoreI experience the same. I prefer the building and resource management side as core gameplay rather than continuous battles (but the battle system is undeniably also good). But there's this person on my island that attacks everyone continuously and all of us near him are just taking turns going into vmode. He bullies everyone - pillages, occupation, port blocking. He's online most of the time and has multis so it's just sad for us that don't have multis and that amount of time.
Now, I'm just upgrading warehouses and piling up gold. It's boring but that's how it is. +480 loot storage on warehouses is just too small. I'm thinking of some new mechanics for non-fighter players but I believe our ideas here won't do much as there's a long list of things needed to be fixed in-game and they're fixing them very slowly.
Still, this is my idea:
The concept is to have a building that uses Sulfur so builders would have a way of using Sulfur.
New Building: Police Station
• Adds loot storage and improves resource production in exchange of sulfur per hour.
• Maybe around +1000 loot storage and 1% resource production per increase in the slider (like how the tavern slider works).
• Every building upgrade gives small passive satisfied citizens. It costs wood, sulfur, and only a bit of marble to upgrade.
• The concept is that in real life, police is supposed to help anyone in need. Accidents, theft prevention, traffic, anything that citizens need to have more order in the city. In Ikariam this improves loot storage, workers' productivity, and citizens' welfare.
Maybe to balance the game for the fighters, the upkeep during battles would be reduced from x2 to x1.8 or something.
+480 loot storage on warehouses is just too small. You have no idea how much I agree with this statement of yours.
New Building: Police Station. Nice idea. I appreciate it.
Even the idea of having a building that traps troops might discourage the attacker from looting. Having 10,000 Spearmen stuck in your enemy's city, with the associated upkeep cost, could be a bargaining chip in negotiations.
