I think many players would appreciate if the weekly locks were completely removed—they slightly diminish the enjoyment and motivation to complete tasks. When a player can only choose once a week between, for instance, 10k to 20k building materials, they lose interest in fulfilling daily tasks. Rewards are a great addition in Ikariam, but I believe they could still be improved. As I mentioned earlier, OGame has a better reward system—higher activity (e.g., sending ships on expeditions) results in higher rewards. If the reward system were similarly designed, players would be more likely to return to the game frequently.

It is true that the developers want players to purchase ambrosia, but the reward system can complement the trading system (ambrosia). For example, in the current rewards, you can choose "1 day of Pan's blessing (Tyche, Dionysus, etc.)," which is a reward you cannot buy anywhere with ambrosia. Thus, a new reward system could offer better rewards while not interfering with the ambrosia trading system. The game OGame is a good example of this. In OGame, I can send ships on expeditions (as many times as I want), from which I can gain resources and some bonuses to increase resource production, while also having the option to buy additional bonuses with "dark matter." So, by being more active, I receive greater rewards. OGame demonstrates that it is possible to have a more sophisticated reward system while maintaining in-game purchases with real money.

You're absolutely right that the rewards are currently locked in a way that you can claim them only once a week. I don't see much logic in that either
Rewards should serve as motivation for players, encouraging them to complete daily tasks. The current reward system gets dull over time because the rewards no longer significantly contribute to the progress of advanced players. I don't really see how receiving 50–25,000 building materials (for favor) once a week is supposed to be motivating
The reward system shouldn't be so restrictive, and there should be a proportional relationship where the higher the level of activity, the greater the reward. This would undoubtedly be more motivating for players and lead to greater engagement with the game. If the game designers were to read this, I'm sure they'd agree that there's always room for improvement, and players would be more motivated if they had the opportunity to earn better rewards for greater effort

Hello,
I’ve come up with an idea to improve the reward system for earned favor. The concept revolves around extending the duration of time-based rewards (currently set to 1 day) to longer periods. Players would be offered options to choose how long the bonus duration should last. However, the longer the bonus duration, the more favor it would cost. Naturally, this would require increasing the cap on the amount of favor a player can possess (which I don’t see as an issue).
For instance, currently, a player can select a 1-day steam sawmill bonus (+20%), but under this new system, they could choose a duration of 3 days, 5 days, or even 7 days, at a higher favor cost. A similar system could also apply to resources. Right now, players can receive 50 to 25,000 building materials or 20 to 33,000 luxury goods once a week (depending on the level of the Town Hall in the main city). For players who have been playing the game for a long time, such rewards might not feel very motivating. With this new system, they could opt for larger quantities, which could be “price-wise” more advantageous.
I would leave room for other players to propose additional ways to improve this reward system.
