I don't know how are you using ballons to take down a wall. For that, mortars are required.

Balloons, in general, are used in defensive, to force the attacker to bring mortars in order to take down the wall, this way balloons kills mortars, hence better battle report. Exactly as Flaze mentioned above.

In order to take down a high level wall, you need as many mortars as possible to survive the defender's balloons. So, what I did was wave full gyros, balloons, and mortars and recalled them each round. My balloons distracted the defender's gyros, so my own gyros were able to get full attacks on the enemy's balloons. Therefore, the defender didn't have many (or sometimes any) balloons survive long enough to attack my mortars. This allowed my mortars to take down sections of the wall. i sent a fresh wave each round so that my gyros and balloons were at full strength while the enemy's units were starting to fatigue.

Did I lose some mortars? Yes. Was the damage ratio ugly? Absolutely.

But, the wall came down relatively quickly and I was able to start turning the damage ratio back around.

It's possible to defeat a level 1 barbarian. As soon as you can plant a new town, do so on an island that you don't currently have any towns on and hit the barbarians there.

I don't know about before the update, but I know I've used balloons recently to conserve gyros. It made for some ugly rounds, but they helped me take down a level 48 wall in 4 rounds.

When the current wonders were first implemented, Ares worked in all cities, even enemy towns, to prevent players from losing morale and scattering. So if you attacked an enemy's town and found an army with no cooks, you could activate Ares and prevent that army from scattering. The bug was around long enough that people start to build up Ares islands and use the wonder. Then, when the bug was fixed, those players had to move their towns since the wonder didn't do what they needed it to anymore.

I am trying to sell goods in my trading post. The game is giving me an error saying I need a trade treaty to trade with partners out of range of my trading post. Obviously this player is within range, otherwise I wouldn't be seeing his buy offers.

Notes:

I do not have any trade treaties. I'm relying solely on what's visible in the trading post.

My government form is Oligarchy.

What problem would that solve?

If players need to keep their accounts in vmode because they can't play the game at the moment, forcing them to be active and vulnerable (and need to monitor wine usage, upkeep costs for military, etc) sends a message that people who need to take more than 30 days away from the game to deal with real life aren't welcome here. This has nothing to do with the black market.

Also, the last time Ikariam had a server-wide "battle" event, the mechanics used had nothing to do with the battle system.
