New Alliance Feature - The Metroplis

  • New alliance feature called "The Metropolis", a city that is built by alliance members to benefit the alliance. Alliance members contribute gold, wood and other luxury resources to an alliance city where buildings can be built to benefit all aspects of the game. You would have your Royal Palace building that would dictate the maximum levels of your other buildings. My recommendation would be to start at just levels 1-5 and each level opens up an additional building spot to add other types of buildings. The following are the types of buildings and benefits that can be made.

    • The Royal Palace – Would have its own population that increases with each level. This population can be used to conduct researches at the u niversity (see building description below), increase alliance gold reserves, maintain the upkeep of the armory, or used in the resources mines of the Metropolis (for Metropolis use only)
    • Alliance Treasury – used to increase gold production of all alliance members. Each building level increases the gross gold production of alliance members by 2%. The treasury can also be used as an alliance gold bank where gold can be sent to alliance members.
    • The U niversity (had to separate letters since this is I guess a censored word) – A building used to advance the research of the alliances military capabilities and economies. The economy side will provide a 2% increase to alliance members cities population at each level. On the military side it will provide opportunities similar to the workshop but will effect the alliance as a whole. (the military aspect will probably be the hardest thing to code and would recommend this maybe be implemented at a later time if needed).
    • The Armory – This is essentially an alliance military bank. Troops and ships stationed here would still incur upkeep of some level maybe reduced from the normal amounts. Troops and ships can then be distributed to alliance members at no cost but must be sent by ships bought from the alliance treasury.
    • TBD – This building would provide a 2% increase to all the resource production at the alliance members towns and the Metropolis.

This new feature would require a new leadership position called the Governor who is in charge of directing distribution from the armory, choosing which researches to conduct, how many citizens to staff the mines, and any other items that need completing.

Similar features to this have come to many games I have/currently play such as Vikings and Clash of Clans. It allows the alliance to have a common goal for upgrades and allows those who may not be as active in wars or conversations to provide additional contributions to the alliance.

  • I like this idea, although i have already made a similar post before.

here is the link to my original post if you fancy a read: Alliance cities

Feel free to use some of my ideas to improve/modify your idea, as i would really like to see such aliance capital implemented in game.

  • I like this idea! Sometimes i feel there is no benefit of being in an alliance! Rather than sending resources and defend each other.

But, if you have a friend or friends who lives nearby then he / they can do the same… Why should i be in an alliance then?

This metropolise should be great to assist members in an alliance!

Build a town together with various types of buildings that will assist members by the following!

    -Boost resource income

    -Boost gold income

-Boost unit / navy training speed

-Boost unit / navy attack, deffence, health ect.

    -Boost happiness in towns

-Boost merchant ships and war ships speed

-Boost loading speed in trading ports

-Boost Research points income per hour

    -Boost building speed

-Ability to enter free godly protection for a 5 days or so by choice and there should be a cool down so its not misused.

    -Boost population space in towns.

Ect. (If anything else is more needed ofcourse)

And yes i agree there would be a powerfull alliance out there who will kill everyone. But thats how it is. Its a part of playing a game. Just like when someone new faces a very strong player. We will all eventually grow strong and stay even.

The strong alliance will not keep staying strong forever. Some members leave and some quit due to some misunderstandings. And we keep krowing strong in the meantime.

  • I hope we will get new Alliance Features, those are definitely needed.

The huge Problem here is obv. Multis / Bots / IP-Sharings, to boost the alliance-city.

Think that's the biggest issue such alliance-features have to face in general.

Will be though to find a solution for this.

  • 100% agree, there really is no point in being in an alliance. On Beta server most of the top 50 aren't in a major alliance. Being in an alliance usually gets you into more wars but there should be other benefits.

Tendo: Gameforge has plenty of opportunities to limit the effect of multi's on this game but they choose not to do so. At this point there is no point in planning something to avoid it as it seems they want people to embrace the use of multi's.

  • The idea is great! Also it would be possible if a condition to be able to build some of the buildings is something like "no ip sharing within the alliance is allowed to build these buildings"

You make it sound pretty easy.

F.e Piracy was filled with Multis from the start, because it's a badly designed Feature which makes it easy to get advantages through Multis.

No reason to introduce even more Features who are the same, because then there would be no reason to introduce such a feature at all imo.

a condition to be able to build some of the buildings is something like "no ip sharing within the alliance is allowed to build these buildings"

    That would not help.

We both have 2 accounts, I send one to your alliance and push the alliance-city of you're alliance and vice versa.

Maybe a concept where you don't donate ressources but instead have to solve Tasks as an alliance to get Points which you can spend on building Buildings and get Benefits would be better.

Similar to the daily tasks favour-system, but as an alliance.

You could still use Multis, but obv. it's harder compared to just donating.

  • The idea is great! Also it would be possible if a condition to be able to build some of the buildings is something like "no ip sharing within the alliance is allowed to build these buildings"

    Yes :)

Or if someone has multible accounts and have activated the Ip-share, then he / she should only get these benefits on one account Only. In the setting he should choose, which account to get these benefits and thats it.

Could be the same settings for piracy then aswell! same for Helios Tower, i think they have thought of it already and made a decision that it would effect the income in a negative way, it's my guess!

Some things are easy. The two biggest use of multi's for an advantage is war (gen banks and gold banks) and piracy. You can solve the 1st by eliminating the black market which would entirely solve that issue or you could reduce the spread on selling price since it is only used for gen banks and this would help reduce the speed in which gold is transferred. They did this with the trading post by limiting the cost in which you could sell products even though the quantity of gold being able to be transferred in 1 trade is so small compared to the black market.

I'm not saying they can solve all of the issues but could solve some of them.

  • I'm not saying they can solve all of the issues but could solve some of them.

Ofc they could, but just because there is not that much happening in that regard yet doesn't mean that we should even further benefit those who use Multis.

  • Code
    1. I really like the idea and it promotes the importance of belonging to an alliance as well as teamwork. It's definitely a great idea and I'm totally in favor of it.

  • My friend and I had suggested something of that spirit in the past. I would like to say a few words about this suggestion, though:

    • "The Armory – This is essentially an alliance military bank. Troops and ships stationed here would still incur upkeep of some level maybe reduced from the normal amounts. Troops and ships can then be distributed to alliance members at no cost but must be sent by ships bought from the alliance treasury."

For this to be effective, it is essential to eliminate the current general banks, ( those in vacation mode). Additionally, it would be great if you could make this Armory attackable, as it would introduce a lot of action to alliance vs. alliance wars.

I believe the next major update in the game should provide a purpose for alliance wars. Each alliance should have a specific goal to achieve. In Ikariam, you can't ruin your enemy's cities; you can only capture and pillage them, but the damage is negligible. Therefore, I suggest that the developers allow alliances to create shared assets, similar to the Armory, that can be damaged. This would create focal points of massive conflict in the game and might bring Ikariam back to its glory days.

  • I like the idea , it's very ambitious.
Only thing I don't like about it is the thought of making it a military bank.

We also get into the situation of.. if I can see it I wanna pillage it.. so we'd have to work out it's defense.

Also where are we gonna build this thing? does it need to be in a normal town slot or is it going into a special new slot on the island? and if so 1 per island?

It might be interesting if this building was 1 per island a special building spot and when it was attacked and defeated it would actually take damage like every time it's attacked building(s) take a loss of level so it was actually possible to completely destroy it or take it over. since 1 spot per island would mean a finite (although huge) number of spots for this thing to be built.

  • It could be an island that is small in size (Somewhere near your capital city, Island view) and once you click at it you would be teleported to the common alliance town, that everyone donates resources to upgrade!

    Sorry. What you wrote :)

  • Thats the only possible way to do it. I mean 1 per island or near the island.

Otherwise perhaps the developers would create a huge island with lots of building slots in the middle of everything.

And each alliance leader, would colonize a town in there to start the building process on it from the donated resources from the members.

The rest of the islands would be circulating around that huge island.

But how many building slots should it have? What happens if it gets full??

Perhaps than if it gets full then automaticly a new and empty one would emerge (On the same place), with a new name.

So to access the previous ones, you would simply chose the name from the list, and then the huge island, with the city belonging to your alliance would come up again.

And how many building slots? What about 50?

Last question. What happens if the alliance dissolves? Then the whole city and its progress would be lost. This would create another building slot for a new alliance to colonise.

But maybe also, these towns would go to war at each other. Leader vs. Leader and every member donate troops to that town and the leader attacks other towns on that huge island / other islands. (I mean if there is any interrest of it ofcourse)!
