Server wide events

    i would like to suggest a new feature - sea peoples invasions. they would appear 1 or 2 times a year in a some sort of an server wide event (a global disaster) lasting around 2 weeks.

    How would this work:

    - on an island near the center of map (around x50 y50) a sea peoples base would appear

    - they would work similar to barbarian village/ barbarian fleet but all players on server could attack them.

    - they would have same units as barbarians, but a lot more of them.

    - strength of sea peoples would be decided by number of (active) players on server and total score of those players

    - after defeating sea peoples the whole server would receive a temporary bonus (rewards could be: increased happiness, bonus research speed, resource production boost, premium account time, extra gold production, or some kind of inventory items)

    - player(s) who have caused the most damage to sea peoples would receive some additional rewards.


    Why would this be useful addition to the game:

    1. Would be a limited time event and would cause a spike of player activity during the duration of event.

    2. Players would get another reason to train and use troops.

    3. Would provide incentive for players to cooperate and also compete to cause the most damage and get better rewards.

    4. Another way for people to spend ambrosia in game.


    placing all sea peoples to one place would probably require a bigger battlefield.

    another solution would be scattering sea peoples all across the world in smaller outposts but you would still require to destroy them all to complete the event. this way you could also add a mix of land and sea bases. or you could add loot to each base to be looted after victory, accessible on first come - first serve basis.

  • I like the idea of a server wide event. I think you would have to find a way to make it a server wide event but also make it individualized. With how long battles get to begin with having the whole server participate in a battle would not end in within 2 weeks. My suggestion would be to make the sea people have x amount of ships but each player would fight their own sea battle against the sea people and their losses would deduct from the total ship count. That way you could track the damage one individual cost othwerwise someone might send in the most ships but their ships never get placed into the battle.

    I see what you are saying. one massive base would not be a good idea, but individual bases have their drawbacks too, for instance not every player would be interested in participating and players could not cooperate in destroying the threat.


    perhaps scattering sea peoples bases around the map would be a better idea. Total amount of troops would not be so large that the battles would last days yet at the same time big enough so a single player could not easily defeat them. my suggestion would be around 3-10 times the amount of troops as they are at higher levels of barbarian villages in each outpost. with size and number of outposts decided by amount of active players on server and their total score.

  • The idea is great! To make it both server wise and individually to match all the perspectives it could be like this.


    They plant out 8 navies around the map if the people on the server manage to destroy 8/8 they will share on X amount of resourses/premium objectives and it decreases for each one they do not manage to defeat!


    The benefit with that would be the activity on the server! the communications between people on the server and also maybe a highscore both individually and as an alliance most ships destroyed or highest amount of damage dealt!


    the negative thing would be that it takes out more of the PVP part of the game if you get me?


    But as i said before it is a really good idea and i would really look forward something like this get implemented!

  • Rly like the idea of Server wide Events, the concept sounds great aswell :thumbup:


    Splitting them up as 8 Fortresses/Bases equally among the Server to make them reachable for everyone, also so that alliances can split them up between each other (like one alliance dealing with the Fortress at 25:25, one Alliance with the Fortress at 75:75 and so on) so that they don't get in each others way too much (which would definitely happen with 1 Fortress only).


    To give People another incentive to clear out the Fortresses maybe fill them up with tons of pillageable Ressources, to award those who clear them, or as already mentioned award those who killed the most units (or both).

    Agree and disagree at the same time.

    We're talking about Events happening 1-2 times a year for few weeks each, that's not too much.

    Imo. we first need more Features motivating Players to work together, play actively and learn how to fight.

    A PvE Feature which allows Players to fight together would also make it much easier to coach someone and explain them f.e how to wave units.


    On a personal note, make them Persians instead of "Sea People".

    Not only would that be more historically accurate for Persians to invade ancient Greece, it would also give way for Persian War-elephants being introduced, the better versions of Steam Giants :saint:
