Update

  • I am still shocked how dumb the trade ship situation is.

So the devs did think to reset the price of Ambrosia ships after the 41th ship, but they did not think to do the same for the normal ships? How does this make any sense???

And instead they added 200 new ships that cost 33.000.000.000 gold, more than any player (should) have. It realistically will take at least 10years to acquire them, but most likely will take 20-30 for most players. Obviously nobody will have enough money to buy them, and the game will die in 2 years.

I am still shocked that the game does not have that minimum of QA to filter out stuff like this. Shameful, shameful moment. Can't wait for the update that comes 3 weeks from now (I bet), that will reduce the price of the gold trade ships and (maybe?) give us the spent gold back.

Shame on you, Ikariam devs. You are incompetent. And this is not an attack or an insult, don't take it personally. It is just an observation.

And to those who defend this change: start buying ships. See how far you get.

  • Do I understand correctly that you wanted to have all 380 merchant ships today?

Please keep in mind it is a long-term game. Just look at it this way: Set yourself a goal of 340 merchant ships (this costs about 10 billion), which seems to be achievable in a few years. The remaining 40 merchant ships for 25 billion don't make much sense anyway..

Don't take it amiss, but I don't understand the people who order from amazon these days and ideally want to have it on their doorstep tomorrow morning. Sometimes you just have to be patient...

  • Reverent

    Do you understand anything?

You want them in 10 years? You want to play Ikariam all your life just to buy the ships and then maybe start a fight and die trying (from natural causes, just being too old)?

  • You want them in 10 years? You want to play Ikariam all your life just to buy the ships and then maybe start a fight and die trying (from natural causes, just being too old)?

Do you want to have it now, what is the point? To loot faster in less time or what?

I dont know, why complaining it so persisting.

  • I'll give you another suggestion: what if no update had come for the next 5 to 10 years? You would be used to it as before.

Just be happy to buy some new merchant ships. Even if there were only 20 ships, everyone always has something to complain about, but don't consider that he has always played with 180 merchant ships for tens of years.

  • Of course i want them now

The cost of palace almost double every level and i am about to have it level 13 at end of december and 14 in january. And the ship problem existed even before the update, i dont wnat to login 15 times a day for 4 months just to ship the resources. What is the point of playing then? No strategy, no fights, just sending resources like a robot.

I'm also a bit shocked how some people can try to compare Phoenicians (where the price is decreasing for each next one) with regular ships (where the price is increasing for each next one). Unbelievable, indeed - just like comparing potato with banana.

Nobody invested time in planning these updates, software made new numbers and that was all

That's really great you know so much about game development, congrats! May I know when your next hit will be released to check the game out?

Of course i want them now

Then apparently this game is not the right fit for you. A lot of payers have played it for 10+ years but some guys like you are crying about not getting everything in one day - really?

Obviously nobody will have enough money to buy them, and the game will die in 2 years.

Yeah, people like you have been talking about dying game since the update 3.x with the upgraded battle system. Guess what? The game is still pretty alive when I last checked my servers.

And to those who defend this change: start buying ships. See how far you get.

I did and bought exactly as many as could and wished for now. The rest will come - by time.

  • The time has come for me to appear in this thread. Hello, everyone!

Our alliance (132 people) is generally normal to this update. It is clear that the goal to buy all new 200 dry cargo ships at once GF did not set. It's all in keeping with the pace of the Ikariam game. This pricing policy GF was able to please both miners and attackers. Miners, having accumulated a lot of gold, can now afford to buy more ships and carry more resources for expensive builds. Attackers, usually with little gold, do not have the ability to buy many ships, so their potential damage to current victims will not increase much. Both sides are on the plus side.

The 4 new locations do reduce the strategic part of the game. But it's better this way than no way at all.

A few requests to the badidol:

    1) A mobile app for android. Are there plans to resurrect and support it? The game is getting significant updates, interest in the game (and ambrosia flow = GF revenue) is increasing, and there is no mobile app. It doesn't work on android. What do you have to say about this? (I'm not considering the ios system as I'm a fan of android. As far as I know, there at least you can go to your account).

    2) Are there any changes planned to the research? Right now, all future ones are already studied, but scientists keep getting research points. Academies are currently an unnecessary building to me. But if there are updates to the research branch, I will definitely keep them and save points until then. What I would like to hear from you is not exactly what will change, but the fact itself, whether or not there will be changes in research.

    3) On the old Russian forum was a branch of "suggestions". And if the proposal for the game was constructive, full, with examples, analysis, then our Team Manager/CoMa passed it to you/GF. There were many suggestions, most of them were unfounded, but there were cool ones with a detailed explanation. And only a few of the voiced suggestions were implemented in the game, and most of them didn't refer to the mechanics of the game, but only the convenience of the interface. Does it make sense now to create a detailed proposal, which in the future GF will implement in the game? This thread has shown that people need (cargo ships, places for construction) and it was introduced, but since there were no specific proposals (with the exception of one proposal, which I saw here from the player Scythe, and it eventually was not implemented), the GF themselves have decided how to implement it.

  • I got 316 but stopped with 880,000 in the bank. I can shut off all res and priests and make over a million gold a day so The trade ships were worth it as it would have taken me years to finally get the rest of my gr's done. Would have taken years to get the depots upgraded before the update and increased storage.

  • Whatever GF do someone will cry and complain. HatersX/

Update is fine, just continue like this. Game is elvoving and offering us more things to do and it is great that we will always have something to do instead reaching some kind of end and than again cry how we do not have something to do.

Yep ships are really expensive. Maybe we get some lower prices at next versions, maybe not. Buy as much as you can and think it is worth. Again nobody says you have to buy all of them :)

Many guys here act like they lost something but your accounts are still same and they just can grow more so stop complaing and do what you can, give yourself some smaller goals instead calculating how you can reach maximum. :)

  • Wow, what do some people suddenly show there hatenes about Ikariam...

I start playing somewhere in 2008 and i was triggerd by the idea that this game wil never end and will take a lot of time for personal growing.

Things constantly change during the last 14 years, and my personal goals changed with them.

I think the majority of the players never speak at places like this.

Everyone has the right to say they want, but please talk in person, not for "most people" because you don't know what "most people" think about Ikariam

  • Tita Tovenaar [NL/DUTCH]

I am proud now. The dinner was a success! You are right, it is not a realistic situation to speak here on behalf of everyone when not everyone thinks the same.

I like the changes, I have 180 ships, so the fact that I will have 30 or 40 ships more in the next 3 months makes things easier for me, the additional lands increase my amount of resources, and fill the holes I had in certain cities due to lack of space!

My only advantage and curse at the same time is that I play on a war server, where there are a lot of inactive players that don't get deleted, but I love the concept of a war server, and I wouldn't change it.

This is a long-term game and the end should not be reached, the simple reason for that is that you always have room to invest, build and progress.

It's not ideal, but it will become interesting when we see what some of the next changes will bring and how they will affect the game.

And I'm not going to speak for everyone, I just think that I'm honestly right because I'm trying to see objectively, maybe we didn't get what we expected, but we moved forward.

Some subsequent changes will have the effect of bringing some things back to where they belong, and some other things will be changed for the better and fixed.

  • Hello everyone! It is huge changes now! My question is, what will be next? It is looks like IKARIAM is changing and I am with you IKARIAM!

  • I am still shocked how dumb the trade ship situation is.

I am really not sure what shocks you :). The 2 types of ships have basically the same system - progressive change of price based on a formula. For the Phoenicians it is decreasing, for the normal ones it is increasing. Yet the implementation of the new changes is different.

What I am comparing is game design: For one type of ship the price was reset after the 41st ships, and for the other type it was not after 181. This is unfair, dumb and inconsistent. This is a very fair critique, and you can make no good argument to support it, other than "because this is how the devs wanted" or, more accurately, because they thought this would maximize ambrosia payments. However, it will end up just be another nail in the game's coffin.

So apples to apples, or apples to non-apples, if you wish :).

  • You do know what most people think about ikariam though. Most people left the game. So they think badly of it.

  • A mobile app for android.

Been there, done that. Development was halted and completely stopped a few years ago.

The major problem with Android here is that Android changes far too much with every major update. Unlike iOS, for which you can build a version once and it has a good chance of working for several years without you having to change anything in your app, on Android your app may stop working completely even inbetween major versions, depending on Android's changes. That's just far too much effort for something that was only ever meant as a companion app but never was meant to replace the actual BROWSERGAME Ikariam. That's just far too much effort, which we can't currently invest. Gameforge has left mobile completely a few years ago and with very, very few exceptions we've never ventured back in. We may, in future, revisit this but for now the answer remains: the Android app is gone and will stay gone.

Are there plans to resurrect and support it?

No, currently there aren't. Reasons: view above.

Are there any changes planned to the research?

As stated a few times before, our rebalancing is a multi-vector approach. One vector, in future, will certainly also be to look at researches. This is, however, not in our immediate focus. Currently we're focusing on the economy. We've started with building levels, went over to more building slots and trade ships part one (yesterday's version). There will be a part two with a different approach. We will, in future versions, very likely also see the arrival of new buildings, however, at this point in time I can't say much more about the road ahead than I've said several times already.

Long story short: we will always decide ourselves on what to implement and how. The definition of suggestion is not "I think of something, tell them and then they have to implement it exactly that way.". If it was, it would be called an order and not a suggestion. You can always make suggestions and we appreciate well thought-through and sophisticated suggestions to the game. Many of those have led to actual features in the game over time. However, the final implementation will always be up to us. Always has been, always will be.

I have yet to read something constructive from you.
