Update

  • As per the post i made above about the costs and storages increasing exponentially and in a linear way, I think that there should be an exponential increase in cargo limitaions.

I don't know the equation used for the aforementioned, but that should be a good start.

Maybe increase the % of Cargo Space per Trading Port level and per economy future research level. Palace could be a help for that and or relegion, (either adapt a current one or create a new one for that).
Also you can use the above to increase the cargo ships limit.

I'm sorry i don't use numbers but i don't have the equation used in the aforementioned costs and storages. The ships should increase at a slightly lower rate though to not be exploited.

Regarding the pillaging i think you could use a % efficiency based on level to protect the lower players. For example right now if you have let's say 200 ships you can transfer 100k resources. which is 4% of the max storage. If lets say you pillage someone and you can take 1 million resources they should be capable of having at least 25m in storage. Right now looting 1 million sounds a lot but when you get to 100m storage which is not that far way, you can only pillage 1% of the overall storage limit.
So an idea would be to decrease the maximum cargo space in pillaging by 5% for every level in Palace difference. (Could be something else that i haven't thought of yet.)

Also is to possible to inform us when something has been ruled out about the future upgrades? What i mean is for example: People discussing the increase in building slots for 8.8.2. If you know that it will either increase by one or not at all could we get the info that it will definitely not increase by two or more? That would help us a lot with planning ahead.

  • Everyone asking for more cargo ships is forgetting something.

It is already going to take extreme amounts of time to accumulate the resources to build the things they are adding.

When you consider how cargo ships become exponentially greater in cost, with each purchased...

Getting them doubled in quantity doesn't really help... It would take decades to be able to accumulate the gold to buy them.

Unless they lower the cost of cargo ships considerably, it really doesn't help.

    Not to mention...

Let's assume that Skyhawk's idea was more accessible, for the moment (and they made those 700 cargo ships something a person could reasonably achieve)...

Imagine how builders would lose their minds if pillagers could clean them out at almost 1M resources per trip?

Pillaging should be rewarding, but there are limits to how rewarding it should potentially be.

This sort of thing makes the leviathan accounts (that are an extreme minority) that are sitting on trillions of gold entirely too powerful, and places essentially everyone else at a disadvantage.

There is a reason that I did not take this approach, and found another angle to achieve the desired end result.

  • Your idea is interesting; However, it is only largely accessible to the top 100 players (due to the advanced level of research required).

Only one half of my idea. And many people have several levels of Future research.

  • "Imagine how builders would lose their minds if pillagers could clean them out at almost 1M resources per trip?"

This is a big reason why we're going to need to split tradeships from pillaging. once the numbers get so big, either you're limiting for pillaging, so then it will take years to move the goods for building, or, if you fix that, then people will get pillaged to death in one shot. We can get creative, like you're trying to in your proposal, but we're still going to ave the "increasing large numbers" problems.

  • So, since everyone had a lot to feel and say about many things but there was very little actual, concrete being said, I thought I'd try a more explicit approach.

Keeping in mind the amount of resources that need to be shipped around in future, what would your exact approach be in terms of ships? We're currently opting in mostly for a combined approach, so higher capacity plus more ships.

Amount: 160 more Merchant Ships + 40 more buyable Phoenician Merchant Ships.

    Capacity: 3 times more capacity

  • Pillaging is fun, it certainly does add spice to the game (to be sure).

That said, much like spice, if there is too much... it ruins things. There needs to be reasonable limits... There will be plenty that is unprotected resources, for people to steal. The storage capacities radically increased, without any increase to safe limits (at least that is my cursory perception).

My suggestion only impacts shipping and has no impact on pillaging. It leaves the door open to later expansion to cargos, without impacting pillaging and thereby breaking the backs of builders. Let's say that my idea was implemented... and yours concurrently... That would make for massive ability to ship resources between cities and still take quite a while to be able to climb in pillaging capability.

The problems I had with your idea was twofold... With the prices being untouched, it really isn't practical to view it to be accessible to players, when they need it. It would stunt growth unnecessarily. To correct this, would require devaluing the ships already purchased to such a level as to be disheartening and I'm not sure they would want to lower the gold prices quite that much for them. Your idea sounds great, until it is examined. It is only useful, if it is combined with an idea like mine (I allow that someone could come up with a different solution that achieves similar results, and I have not conceived of yet).

I understand that... I myself have several levels of futures... My point was for it to achieve useful results.

  • I do support increasing the the ammount of resources shipped at one go, maybe 2-4x the ammount whats possible right now. Only concern being how much u can pillage in one go. I think like 200k should be the max of one pillage, or otherwise it's gets way too easy to pillage ppl.

  • I wanted to leave this here

We're not gonna get this chance anytime soon.

Please be exact and concrete and do NOT spam around any more stories and lengthy posts, just tell us the following (numbers are random examples, fill in your numbers you think are good):

    Amount: 250 more ships

Capacity: 3 times more capacity per ship

  • i cant stop laughing

you all ask for more ships until realising you will get pillaged even harder

    Are you sure?

with multiple warehouses and multiple levels for each warehouse?

    with the highest hiding place?

    I wouldn't be so sure...

Of course it might be easier to loot a very developed player who wants to grow even more ...

but if he spends ambrosia .... bye bye pillaging ....

    firma-nuovo-forum.jpg

  • 204k is the max, (1.2kk with every bonus) not a lot seeing the cost of the new buildings

also irrelevant because no one will reach it

bigger players will have more resources, as they do now.

    no difference in that regard

And yet they ask for ships that most of them will never be able to afford. I'm quite surprised more aren't clamoring for my idea.

  • Extra space/extra merchant ships and pillaging will be very difficult to balance.
So I hope our developers thought it BEFORE coming up with these HUGE amounts of resources to upgrade buildings? You've thought it over, yeah? Yeah..?

You didn't think We would buy building materials for ambrosia, right?

  • There's already a way to get around the ship issue,

I hope Ikariam doesn't increase the ship count.

    Want to elaborate?

I'm Convinced majority of the players complaining about Transport ships are farmers.

Same people who will cry after someone take them 20m resurces in one day:rolleyes:

But well, they have to think how they will build depo on 80 in far far far future.

I beg to differ. While it is significant to be able to shuffle resources between cities...

The majority of suggestions here involve making more cargo ships available.

While I think that "solution" requires far too much time and gold to become a viable solution... I can assure you that this particular option gains pillagers at least as much as it does builders.

I will admit that my own solution benefits builders, more than it does pillagers.

That said, I believe the larger amounts of unprotected resources that the larger farmers will contain will turn them into a whole bunch of convenience stores. They will have their own hands full trying to rebalance their accounts with enough military to protect their goods and still maintain production to useful levels.

I believe that pillagers will do quite well in this new environment, even if my suggestion is the one well received.

  • Anyone got the formula for ship costs if GW simply increases the number of buyable ships without adjusting prices (which I predict they'll do)?
