  • have you reported the error? it works just fine for me

    ASSINATURA-2023.png

  • Boros askded what Launches is, I told him what came to mind for all the functions a launcher offers - a comprehensive answer so he gets the idea.

A browser game may also chose to download content, cache it. Example would be decorations, animations in the case of Ikariam.

But even if it doesn't download anything, the point was completely different. The point was to visualize the game properly, lag free, easier logon (imagine you have to click an icon and you are in the game).

In the years I've seen browser games change a lot, specially because of the end of Flash and the policy of Java after v201 or was it v211, the last free Java LTS. The whole Newgrounds site changed everything, I think they are using containers now, not sure. But that's it - things change all the time, for the better in most cases.

I've used Gameforge's launcher for Aion, it was a decade ago, I know it exists, but browser games are not part of it. I also know launchers are troublesome, just the previous day a game would not load the website, because windows 8 and IE 10 happened to be out of support...imagine that.

But if made right, they do ensure a game (including browser game) to load flawlessly, work faster and smoother, specially with slow net. Maybe some use chromium, who knows, most things work with it.

I am glad you can log into the game, here is my attempt:

have you reported the error? it works just fine for me

The error exists since years. I never reported it, because until now I had found workarounds:

The first workaround was use Chrome browser, Mozilla was not working
When that broke, the work around was to use Desktop mode.
And after that broke, I just used to connect remotely to a machine working 24/7 and log in there, since it didn't use to ask for captcha on my home machine.

But now it does ask for captcha there too. To make matters worse, I couldt logon my home machines the past few days:

Unrecognized email address or invalid password. Please try again or click on “Forgotten your Password”.

It self resolved today, so I have no idea what was the problem, as if something was hanged.

They NEVER let you log in anymore, captcha after captcha after captcha after captcha itd...

I never get captchas unless you do a lot of piracy and you often get captcha or do you mean the 2-factor auth appears to often?

Using Desk Browser + Mobile Browser with active login cookie should not be a problem.

Ok, thanks, actually I do torrents... terabytes.

But here is the cookie cutter: My grumpy face was caused by my mobile logon attempts, and that means mobile data while I am on the bus/train
I can't do ANYTHING there, since it's my telecom operator network.

Fun fact, I checked your theory at work: after connecting to the WiFi a laptop and my phone, and did captcha with laptop, magically the phone started logging with that wifi without asking any captchas anymore...interesting why the same trick doesn't work at home, where I do captchas every day. And for this game I use either Microsoft Edge or Chrome, since I do not use (I hate those browsers) them for ANYTHING else, but they ensure my ikariam gameplay to be smoother. (Yes. cookies on my Firefox are sent into oblivion, yet it loads ika, just feels slower).

  • what version of android and chrome are you using?

i get the captcha and just do it, it works exactly like on desktop

the error probably was that your ip was flagged as a vpn so the game blocked it

im not sure if it is legal to remote into a machine to play so i woudnt bring it up

  • A browser game may also chose to download content, cache it.

That is not the same. A launcher does not handle your cache. Your browser does.

The point was to visualize the game properly, lag free, easier logon (imagine you have to click an icon and you are in the game).

That functionality exists, it's called lobby.

Also: you want to add yet another step between you and the actual game to make it lag free? That's not how the internet works.

Or your "launcher" does nothing else but open a browser and pre-fill the game's URL for you, in which case it's even more ridiculous....

Either way, a launcher makes no sense whatsoever for a browser game.

But if made right, they do ensure a game (including browser game) to load flawlessly, work faster and smoother, specially with slow net.

Erm...no, that's not what launchers do. If anything at all, launchers are usually just one more step on the way to finally getting into the game and the majority of players actually hate them, especially since everyone, publisher, dev, etc. want to have their own launcher these days, which leads to annoying nonsense such as me clicking play in Steam which launches the Ubisoft launcher which launches the games launcher instead of simply launching the game in the first place. No. Launchers are not the magical solution you claim they are. Not by a long shot.

That only happens if your gameforge.com accounts shows signs of suspicious logins.

Nothing much I could do there in game support, you'll need to make a support ticket for gameforge.com in that case. This is not game-related.

And it never occurred to you that workarounds, vpn/remote connections etc. might look fishy for the system and lead to...hmmm....even more captchas? Really?

Instead of trying to find workarounds that include things you're not even supposed to use to log in (reading T&C will help with that) the correct way would have been to contact support instead of making it worse.

Long story short: instead of trying workarounds, maybe just log in like everyone else, normally. If that doesn't work, contact support.

Am Anfang wurde das Universum erschaffen.

Das machte viele Leute sehr wütend und wurde allenthalben als Schritt in die falsche Richtung angesehen.

  • That'd be a one time thing in an extreme case when nothing works and clearly one can not play that way, specially when phones are made with touch screens and finger gestures, and PC is with mouse. In other words, game play is impossible in a true sense, all you do is check if you blink red and log out. It is even worse experience than the mobile app. When the mobile app was still working, It was used for the purpose of seeing if you are attacked so I know when to rush home, since it was really glitchy even checking if I blink in red was hard. With the app it was quite hard but with several attempts and effort, you could send resources between cities, turn on a temple, build. Attacks were not possible, resolution was just glitching too much. Maybe the android then was too old tho.

The android is 11. Chrome is up to date, google play is up to date. The IP is just one of many in the 4G network of my telecom, can't do anything about it.

  • You're exaggerating wildly.

The app was never meant to be more than a companion app, it was never meant to fully replace the desktop browser game.

But it wasn't nearly as bad as you describe it.

And again, game support (or people here in the forum) can not help with that particular issue.

You need to make a ticket with gameforge.com support. This is not a game-related issue.

And also it has nothing to do with the thread's topic, actually.

  • Yes sorry, but indeed the discussion is carrying away.
I did report problems that were unresolved and were fixed so I know when to contact support. Will do again for my future problems.

As for the update suggestions, I can add one more:

Animation videos during battles. Just like watching 30 sec ad, optional, You can see Swordsmen attacking archers.
Question is, do you apply small buffs for watching the ad? Like +20% resources /12h.

I've gotten that before, but it was because I was messing up my own password. Something that might help you is to uncheck the blue "Automatic Login" box when logging in. That way it's not continually entering in a typo or something silly. (It helped me anyway.)

Funny. Using the browser works just fine for me on Android Smartphone, iPad, Desktop PC and Laptop.

I have always had difficulties using the browser version on a phone, whether on an android or iphone. I can usually get logged in, but the screens don't always work. In an emergency I can *usually* log in and move troops or something. But it's not even remotely the same experience. ;( If you have any suggestions on how to get the screens to move or windows ingame to open properly, I'm open to ideas.

And just for some levity... when I first saw someone mention "launchers" I instantly envisioned a new ground unit wielding a grenade launcher. :S It took me a minute to figure out it was a serious suggestion about something technical.

To be honest, I'm at a loss there, as I can't reproduce any of this. Whenever I try (I hate doing everything on the phone, I am old-fashioned, I need a big screen, a keyboard and a mouse) I can log in just perfectly and do everything just like on the PC. Not quite sure what weird magic I have to use to finally reproduce these issues. I don't get them on any of my devices and I don't quite understand what I must do differently to have these issues.

Maybe because what I do for a living takes place on my laptop, but I'm like that too. Games, movies, I like to see most things on the big screen, maybe we are really old-fashioned, the world has transferred all obligations to phones, but I still stand by myself.

In order for the browser to work fine on mobile, I always activate the "Desktop Site" see the picture below.

I use Mozilla Firefox but there should be a similar button on all other browsers.

I get the "slide the scissors to the creature" (or whatever), fairly often.

The system is apparently not very smart. I use two different computers at the same location, depending on which room I am working in. So even though they are both using the same internet (though never at the same time) Ikariam seems to think computer #2 is "suspicious", a lot.

I also have an inbox full of emails due to it.

If this is as intended - shrugs - I'll live with it. But it's surprising that the game can recognize one computer, but not the other.

I'd bet on checking the traffic of data or other software used on that machine. Probably your machine is marked as suspicious due to the data traffic or anything else that 'feels like a bot'.

That's how I am, too. I didn't get myself a nice big laptop just to do everything on a screen that fits in the palm of my hand. While sometimes it's handy to be able to do something quickly on my phone (answer a text, move some pixel troops, etc), most things I prefer to do at a real computer with an actual mouse.

I've read your post twice, and it makes zero sense to me.

Oh and incidentally - no multi-accounting, no bots, no nothing.

And I gave up on other servers (and other GF games) years ago...

Anyway, all things considered, things like this do not inspire hope for the future.

You’re getting CAPTCHA on multiple sites because your online traffic behavior resembles unsafe bots.

That could include the following reasons:

    • Your computer is infected with viruses or malware.
    • Someone else on your network is running a bot or script.
    • You’re using a virtual private network or proxy to hide your IP address.
    • Your computer has received an IP address that was previously used in an attack.

he has the same ip in both computers

the only one that could make sense is the first one, but why on earth would gf know that?
