Introduction to Piracy :-
A new "minigame" in Ikariam, Piracy strives to be a dynamic and engaging method to progress through the game. In-game, it is described as:
"A powerful Pirate Fortress with a strong crew eager for your orders. They are looking to loot capture points and gold. Fame and enormous amounts of resources beckon the most successful pirates. From here you can start raids on other Pirate Fortresses."
At the top of every score board, the top ranked players of Piracy are those who have proved themselves by being active and tactical. As a reward, they have gained millions in resources (to the extent that they may have collected more resources from Piracy than from collecting resources the normal way).
Every piracy cycle lasts for exactly 3 weeks, you can check the timings in the fortress building.
Requirements :-
Research: Piracy (18 ) which requires Deck Weapons (Seafaring).
The Fortress explained :-
Below is the data for the Fortress. The range represents how far away a person can raid with the fortress and this is measured in islands (similar to trading post) and the base crew strength is the very basic amount of crew strength the player has (explained in more depth after).

Capture points explained :-
Gaining capture points is the main goal of piracy, and players should aim to collect as many as possible in each cycle. They can be collected in two ways:

Raiding players :- The second method for gaining capture points is raiding other players. This can be done by selecting a town in the island map, and selecting the raid option as shown here:
If this option is not available, your opponent does not have a fortress built in that spot.
Unlike other battle mechanics, the mechanics for raiding is relatively simple. Whenever a player tries to raid another, the outcome of the battle happens as soon the attack lands. If the player wins, the capture points reach the player immediately. When result of the raid is determined using the crew strengths of each side, and a factor called the "destiny bonus". This makes it so that both players randomly get assigned a bonus to crew strength between -10% to 10% (for example: 90-110, 106-94 etc).
When there is a large difference between the players crew strength, destiny bonus will make little or no difference. When the strength of the players is similar, destiny will play a large role in the outcome.
Crew Strength :-
Crew strength has three parts to it, which are summed to make the total crew strength:
Rewards :-
Players in the top 50 are rewarded resources at the end of the cycle. The amount of resources received is equal to your rank's multiplier multiplied by the total safe limit from warehouses in the town plus the 100 safe from town hall. The rank multipliers are as follows:

So an example of this would be someone achieving rank 6, and having a total warehouse safe limit of 36,100 in a town. They would therefore receive 36,100 * 6 (the multiplier for rank 6) = 216,600 of every resource in that town. As you can see, the potential rewards are huge!

Research :-
You didn't lose anything. The research for piracy was recently added, after you researched everything else, so you just need to research piracy first (18 research points only) and you'll be at your normal position.
That spot on the island is for the pirate fortress only. Like the spot for the wall or the 2 spots for trading port and shipyard, you cannot build just anything there, only the fortress.
Building :-
A fortress can have level 30 maximum.
Yes, it is a building like any other, so you have reduction for materials and building time.
If you have at least one fortress in any other town you won't lose the points. Only if you demolish the last fortress and remain with none you will lose the capture points.
No. If you win the battle and you get all the points. If you lose the battle and you don't get any points.
Interface :-
Your pirate base level (fortress) determines how far away you can see black flags and therefore raids. Each level increases this range with 1.
If the player has a town with a fortress in your range you can click it, but if it is outside your range, you cannot click it. Upgrade your fortress to expand your range.
Just demolish all fortresses. You will not see anything related to piracy, not the black flags, not the points and crew strength. You will still see the highscore, though.You will not be raided by pirates.
You can use piracy on mobiles or tablets only if you use a browser and ver.0.5.3 (or bigger) of the game. Mobile versions (0.5.3 with graphics from 0.4.5) do not have piracy.
Crew :-
No, there is no upkeep cost for the pirates.
Raids :-
Yes, a raid over another player takes one action point. Also you can see the piracy fleet movement in your military advisor.
Yes, your military advisor will turn red like on any other attack.
Make sure all conditions for abandoning a colony are fulfilled and check if you do not have a point conversion running. Point conversion is like the workshop for the army.
No, you are not safe, you can be raided even if you are in vacation mode.
If they have a fortress, yes, you can raid them.
Yes, you can raid other players even if you are in godly protection mode and No, you do not lose the godly protection mode if you raid them.
No, it is not fleet contact. You can raid anyone who has a fortress, no limits to that.
From 25 November 2014 IP sharing You cannot raid each other - military and piracy.
Capture points:-
No, you get the bonus only if you have over 7000 capture points and there is no other limit. 14000, 21000, 28000, etc. will get you 1400 bonus only.
Highscore for capture points is updated once every 30 21 days. The amount of time remaining till next evaluation and update is displayed in the fortress, in the middle, between your captured points and your crew strength.
But you can see every day 4 places above you and 5 places below you. This score is updated at 18:00 every day. In the last day before evaluation it is updated every 30 minutes.
Most probably the attacker put a town in your island to be close to you, attacked you and then demolished the town. This way you cannot trace the town from which he was attacking you.
If your conversion finishes before the raid reaches you then you benefit from the capture points by strengthen your crew, but if the raid reaches you before the conversion ends, then you lose all capture points.
No, moving your town won't help. Pirates will still be coming.
No, it is not possible to demolish a fortress while it is under attack.
Miracles:-
The only miracle to have an effect on piracy raids is Poseidon.
Ambrosia:-
No, it does not depend on the storage capacity, but on the theft security limit.
No, activating padlock will not get you double amount of resources, but if you achieve a good rank you will have so many resources that it is possible that you need to activate 100% increased storage capacity (Steam Driven Forklift) to store them all. Any amount of resources above the storage limit will be lost.
Ban:-
Yes. Circumvention of multi rule is one of them: e.g. if you have multiple accounts (and they are clearly IP-shared), you cannot let a friend raid some of them in order to raid him back from another account. Normally, breaching of such rules causes immediate permanent ban of all involved accounts ~ IP-sharing
The same, usage of scripts of any type e.g. to send out automatically capture runs or piracy raids, is not allowed at all ~ script using ingame and mass piracy bans
And you cannot create accounts for the sole purpose of being raided ~ piracy pushing rule
