There aren't any rules for ratio exchange (even in the past). But there is a rule, that if you are bigger account and the other smaller, the smaller can report you. If anything can save you is the written (the between you, dialog). So, save them in jpg's for proofs.

People also tend to send goods (at night) to bigger accounts and then report them, for not sending them back. In this scenario, both accounts are suspended, until a solution came up. So.. again, save any evidence fast. (of course the sender, is a multiple account, only for damaging others)

This was the policy, from players, from 2010. Nothing changed. GF is still here. You will buy eventually, because it's not the game, you knew in the past. Something.. changed. Something very serious... changed. And you are not gonna like it..

GO's cannot waste time doing calculations.

They cannot waste time reading trade agreements between players.

There are few of them, they are not paid, and they already have a lot to do.

The main tool for trading goods is the market.

Here you can sell valuable resources at high prices and buy less valuable resources....

Direct exchanges must be 1:1.

This is an unwritten rule, but one that was spread in forums many years ago by the Ikariam staff themselves.

There isn't also rule for 1:1

There is only the agreement between players, which is good to keep them (in screenshots), in case something go wrong (if you don't know the player).

If, for example, I receive 10,000 pieces of wood and do not return them within 48 hours with other wood or other resources, what should happen (and what happened to me) is that you are contacted in-game by the GO, who warns you to return what you received or else you will be banned....

All on a 1:1 basis.

Only if I receive resources from a larger account does this not happen.

I do not know whether the GOs can or will intervene in the event of non-compliance with the exchange agreements (but always on a 1:1 basis).

Noone is warning you, about the mats. But the sender if he wishes to, can report you, because you didn't send back the same quantity of the same mat or other kind.

If the player reports you, both players are suspended (X), until investigation.

If you receive mats from larger account, nothing can happen. The sender can not report you. (But the smaller can - the receiver)

I thought the ratio could go as high as 1:2, but not past that, however, due to the convenience of the trading post almost all of my trades go through it.

That was long time ago, I believe they've changed the rule to be 1:1 only, unfortunately I can't get the reference and I hope one of the Mod's confirm it.

Thanks for correcting me. I wasn't sure if it changed or not. Obviously if everything has to be 1 to 1, you're better off just trading via the trading post.
