Tax Collector for the good of the Island

  • I am watching how many people are using a mobile town (traditionally or with ambrosia), for pillaging and piracy and after they do their job, they are leaving..

.. and I was thinking that the island didn't got any .."reward". (a reward that the islanders will benefit)

A reward could be a donation of 50K to the mines or to the wood, otherwise the player will pay a penalty of staying locked for a week to the same spot.

Of course, you don't like it. But if you think it thorougly, all the islanders gain a profit.
Besides the players who own an army of place holders on the island, all others can gain from this.

  • nah, I think it's fine the way it is temporary towns have been apart of this game from the very beginning.

  • Honestly, I think you're raising a really interesting point.

Mobile towns (whether regular or ambrosia-based) being used just for pillaging or piracy and then disappearing - yeah, it’s efficient, but the island itself gets nothing out of it. And I agree, it does feel a bit unfair to the permanent residents who actually invest in the island. The idea of a “reward” like a donation to the mines or wood is pretty clever. Even a small amount like 50K would show some contribution - and in the long run, everyone on the island benefits from that. It could even encourage more cooperation or community-style gameplay. The penalty idea might feel a bit harsh to some, but maybe it could be balanced or optional in some way? Like a "soft lock" that encourages donating, but doesn’t fully punish casual players.

Either way, I like the direction you're thinking. Anything that gives islands more meaning and encourages contributing is a win in my book.

    +1 from me!

  • A function to pay the donation from other cities, like the spies function, can help the system, without transfering goods from other cities.

The donation can be avoided, if the player stays two weeks on the island. (that will also restrain people from "Hit & Run" piracy

I absolutely understand. I think it's a good idea, I still support it, and I hope it will soon be recognized at higher levels as well.

  • Why would you feel unfairly treated by someone who comes to your island for few days and leaves right afterwards, resulting in opening a Spot that had been open before aswell, but not about someone who occupys a spot for ages with just leeching and contributing nothing?

Why would you "punish" someone for leaving early?

You'd rather have them wait for several days (without donating aswell)?

Why should someone pay for Mines, that he's not about to use, since he's leaving already?

I would understand if you wanted People having to donate a certain amount to "unlock" the Mines for their own usage (so f.e if I go to an Island with sawmill level 30, I can only at first use the sawmill like if it were level 5 and have to donate a certain amount to be able to send the same amount of workers into it as everyone else does).

That I could understand, because then you have to donate to the Mines, to be able to use the Mines.

But People who aren't on the Island to mine ressources and instead just want to get capture points, raid inactives, wage wars and so on... don't think it makes sense for them having to donate ressources, for Mines they aren't going to use anyway.

Otherwise this would just make the mentioned activities even more frustrating then they already are, f.e if you want to raid an inactive and they go into vacation mode, so you've used another city relocation for nothing AND have to donate to be able to leave / try your luck on the next inactive Player.

  • The problem is that noone is donating anything. It's a common thing since ikariam has opened it's "gates".

Either he come, for staying, or leaving early, the island doesn't gain anything. (plus the islanders).

Most of the people nowdays are using a mobile (a level 1 or a level 40) town to do their business.

This punishment will not stop people from using a mobile town, but it will reduce the use of it. (or it will increase the use of ambrosia).

"Why should someone pay for Mines, that he's not about to use, since he's leaving already?"

Because he used the land to do his business. The tax goes to island, not to others. (the others, yes they are gaining a very very tiny profit).

But this "tiny tiny profit", maybe would push all others to donate.

"People who aren't on the Island to mine ressources and instead just want to get capture points, raid inactives, wage wars and so on..."

No need to have a spot on the island for that. Besides, people who are doing such wars they can pay more of 10 Million. They have all the resources and more of them.

  • The problem is that noone is donating anything.

Ofc a Player who knows he will leave an Island after a few days again won't donate since he won't reap any profits of these donations, that's not a problem, that's only logical to do.

Pushing the Mines is the job of those who want to stay on an Island longterm, not others.

This punishment will not stop people from using a mobile town, but it will reduce the use of it.

You make this sound like a good thing, but why would it be?

Why should there be an aim in reducing the amount of mobiles?

Having mobile cities requires activity, wars require activity, your suggestion imo. would just reduce activity and wouldn't improve the game at all.

And yes, you definitely need a spot on an Island to raid inactives and wage wars.

  • " ...he won't reap any profits of these donations.."

True, but the idea is gaining a profit all others on the island. The profit goes to island and indirectly to islanders.

"Pushing the Mines is the job of those who want to stay on an Island longterm, not others."

How satisfied you and all others would be, if a players doesn't donate 50K per week (or about per general score), then a penalty will apply which could include dropping the workshiping in miracles or having an effect that can reduce the harvesting?

For raiding inactives, you need more than a week, with exceptions (ambrosia)

For waging wars, you have all the resources you need plus more. (no need ambrosia)

General speaking, those who can move freely from an island to an another, they have all resources to donate. (piracy included)

The policy is targeting those who have the resources. (Granting a buff as a reward, like a 20% travel speed for 24h, it could help the policy)

Small players, don't move so much from their homebase. But if they decided to do, they know that they need to spend.

In game, there is so much freedom that everyone can do anything. There aren't any restrains. The idea is to apply one, but also to give something back in return.

Wrong, Donations are voluntarily and that's good.

If you want to increase the Mines cooperate with the people on your Island voluntarily.
I wouldn't want this on my Islands either, why should anyone donate if the Mines are high enough already, why should Players be forced to donate if they're too small , or if they don't even want more People in their Mines.

For raiding inactives, you need more than a week, with exceptions (ambrosia)

For waging wars, you have all the resources you need plus more. (no need ambrosia)

    That's so completely wrong.

Whenever you raid an inactive there's a high chance he will come active again / jump into VC (which I already mentioned), so not only have you wasted a city-relocation / time, you'd also be punished additionaly.

If you wage war you're at the limit with your ressources, having to spent them on military / not being pillageable.

In game, there is so much freedom that everyone can do anything. There aren't any restrains. The idea is to apply one, but also to give something back in return.

No, your idea was to take something from some Players and give it to other Players.

It's not a restraint, it's a Punishment for Players playing certain Playstyles, which just doesn't make sense at all imo.

  • It's a restraint, not a punishment, because you can pay anytine. A punishment doesn't offer ways to escape.

And yes, this style of "
Hit & Run" it will be offered only to those who are paying donations.

    The piracy will be reduced.

The people who travel from island to island every minute also it will reduced (for any kind of business)

and again No! Everyone is going to pay to have that style. (a 50K is ridiculously small amount)

Let's not forget that there are islands in which we are alone. And someone else is visiting us for piracy or for goods. At least .. leave something (or stay 2 weeks, it may give me the time to counter strike him).

And islands that have 17 players already, at least they are safe from mobile towns.

The small players who are interested in making colonies, no need to worry

  • Why not making first that the regulars will be forced to donate, let say that if you are mining you must put 10% minimum back in to that mine. I think the leechers problem is much bigger than just the ones who pass bye for a nice loot.

  • In daily tasks for God's shrine, we know that there is one about donate. They prefer not to do it (Yes, I asked them).

You can't even attack them, because a 2nd account, bigger is coming to you. (they are threating you)

The game have become what players wanted. If they can pay cash, they are fine by this.

If you could allow them to have 20 account by paying cash, they will gladly do it.

But if you asked them to give something back, they have all the means to do otherwise.

The policy wasn't only for donating, but also to reduce the "I can do everything I want, without any punishment"

Almost everyone have their.. tools. For donating and locking everyone else out. For attacking and no options for defending.

If you want to defend, you have to spend too, otherwise..take the stairs to exit.

This is business. Not a game anymore.
