Finally, a real solution to the multi-account problem in the game A dramatic upgrade – this is the solution we’ve all been waiting for

  • I’ve found a real solution to the never-ending problem of multi-accounting in this game. I know most people don’t care much about it, but for those of us who play without multis like me and actually spend real money on ambrosia – which is exactly what the developers should be supporting – this would be a serious upgrade in this era of constant game updates.

Here’s the situation: right now, there are clear loopholes that let players hold more than one account. I don’t understand how, with all the power of AI, this hasn’t been solved yet – but let’s put that aside. I’ve got a simpler solution, and I promise it will work!

Today, players who use multi-accounts give themselves an unfair advantage and have a level of power that doesn’t match their real score. The solution I’m proposing is to allow gold looting in all servers – anywhere, anytime.

Why would this work? Because players who use multis would suddenly be exposed to losing all that precious gold they’ve been hoarding (and along with it, the units they’ve unfairly built using those extra accounts). Let me give you an example: I’m a player with 27 million points – there are better players than me, and there are worse ones too. Then suddenly, a player with only 600k points shows up, thinking that with his multis and the generals they can provide, he’s going to take me down. But in reality? He’s not risking anything – not his own resources, not his own population – because he’s just cheating.

If gold looting were enabled everywhere, that same 600k-point player would lose his precious gold and those illegal generals would be gone. And just like that, the multi-account problem would start to disappear from the game.

I really hope that someone close to the core of the system will consider my idea. Even if not – we’re already in 2025, soon 2026. There’s no way you guys still don’t know how to deal with multis! There are so many ways to block this kind of abuse today.

I’m not here to teach you how to do your jobs – I’m just saying, as a player who enjoys the game and is willing to spend money, the multi-account plague is driving me crazy.

Thanks so much if you’ve read this far. (And a little note to finish: every reply here that supports multis is basically proof that the person posting it has a multi themselves. Might want to consider banning them 😉)

  • What you're after are illegal multi-accounts that don't use the in-game IP sharing system.

It's perfectly fine to play with multiple accounts, up to 11 per server :) and yes i play with multi's. I can't do anything you mentioned, Money and troops are available for every account. Any contact would get you banned.

  • First of all — if that’s the situation, then no worries: the move I suggested probably won’t affect you anyway.

Second, unfortunately, aside from direct trading between multi accounts — which, yes, is automatically blocked — every veteran player knows there are still plenty of loopholes that can be exploited using duplicates.

I’m confident that with a relatively simple step, like removing the black market, we could reduce the use of multis by around 80%.

There are very few players who truly have the patience to manage multiple accounts; yes, they exist, but they’re rare.

The rest simply use multis to benefit one stronger main account of theirs.

Fine print — this post is already a bit old, kind of funny to show up out of nowhere and try to justify yourself hahaha 😄

Where I come from, we say: “The hat burns on the thief’s head.” 😏 LOL

    1. I'm aware there are loopholes, and people are abusing multi-accounts.
    2. I'm also almost certain it's been mentioned that they'll never remove the black market from the game. A cooldown period is a common suggestion, and this would only benefit the big players/alliance.
    3. And most alliances have adapted to this and have a general bank for themselves, right?
    4. The black market isn't a factor for me; I don't use it. However, some suggestions against multiplayers, such as one account per server, would suddenly leave me with 10 accounts that are useless.
    5. I've seen several posts about this, which raise concerns, as I've put a lot of effort into all these accounts. Ruler since: 20.02.2022.
  • Hi,

First of all, I apologize if I make any grammatical errors; I'm using Google Translate.

I think the idea is great in fact, I believe it would greatly liven up the game on multiple servers. It might not be the ultimate solution against multi-accounting, but it would certainly help to balance things out a bit.

Hahaha, they ignore it on every server, my friend.

And let me tell you a secret: on Telegram there’s an entire market of IKARIAM — you can buy whatever you want there and get it directly into the game. Usually at much better prices than what the game itself offers. You’ll also find features there that aren’t sold in the official shop, and even if they are — not in those quantities.

For almost a year I’ve been researching one question: How can a big company like Gameforge allow this to happen? It’s obvious they’re losing money on every transaction that doesn’t go through their shop.

And slowly I started to understand: apparently some very powerful people inside the company are making personal profit from it.

Take the “Black Market” building as an example: if you really look into it, you’ll see it doesn’t contribute anything to the game.

Ideologically, I don’t use a Black Market in any of my towns — and I still have 34 million points.

So, is it possible to succeed in the game without the Black Market? Of course.

Is it possible to cheat in the game without the Black Market? Absolutely not.

    — And that says everything.

  • Hello,

I understand the frustration with multi-account abuse in Ikariam — most long-term players have run into situations where someone’s real military strength clearly doesn’t match their visible score.

That part is a legitimate concern.

But I don’t think enabling unrestricted gold looting everywhere would solve the problem — and it would probably hurt legitimate players far more than actual cheaters.

    Why?

    1) Normal players would become collateral damage

Many legitimate players stockpile gold for:

    • future wars
    • fleet rebuilding
    • server merges
    • large infrastructure pushes

They would suddenly become massive targets despite doing nothing wrong.

    2) Multi-account users would adapt quickly

People abusing loopholes would simply move gold faster, split storage differently, or create new workarounds.

Cheaters usually adapt faster than rule changes.

    3) It would massively favor larger alliances

Large alliances could start permanently farming weaker players’ gold reserves.

That would create even more imbalance.

A smaller or solo player could be financially destroyed after one bad war.

    4) Score manipulation would get worse

Players may intentionally keep lower scores while stockpiling hidden wealth elsewhere.

This could create even more strange account behavior.

    The real issue is enforcement.

Gameforge already has rules against multi-account abuse — the problem is consistent detection and enforcement.

That’s where improvements would actually help:

    • stronger IP/device pattern analysis
    • behavioral tracking
    • suspicious transfer monitoring
    • faster ticket reviews
    • clearer punishment transparency

And yes, modern detection tools should probably be far better by now.

That part of your criticism is fair.

I think a better discussion would be:

“How can Gameforge improve detection of coordinated abuse without damaging normal players?”

That feels much healthier than turning every server into a permanent gold-raiding simulator.

And your final joke about banning everyone who disagrees may accidentally wipe out half the forum 😄

  • Hey my new friend, first of all, thank you so much! It's always fun when someone addresses a topic that is "alive" and affecting our environment in the game. By the way, I have to mention that since my original message, in my personal opinion at least, the ban system in the game has shown a great "awakening."

I read your words carefully. I think the common ground between all our ideas is the simple understanding that in a war game – gold gets stolen too. At the end of the day, gold = a resource.

It’s important to me to emphasize that I completely understand your point about how "cheaters exploit loopholes faster than new clean rules can pass." Listen, you gave me a sentence for life right there, so thanks again! (Awesome quote bro, so true). But we shouldn't fear; even cheaters have a "place of honor" – they are the ones training the system hahah.

As I mentioned in another post, the complete eradication of cheating in the game will only happen when there is no longer a black market. The idea of gold looting "hurts us" simply because we got used to the fact that in Ikariam, gold isn't looted. But I swear to you that a player who just had their storages completely emptied of the 5 other resources experiences the exact same pain, if not more. So does the looted player die from it? Of course not lol, that's how we learn.

Beyond that, let's say a player wants to hoard gold. Let everyone do whatever they want, as long as they are aware of the risks. Personally, I currently have 360 million resources in my account. Could I lose it all at any given moment? Absolutely. And yet, I am aware of it and I keep "defenses" = an army.

If we really want to prevent cheating: a player trying to hoard gold will know they can suddenly be looted, so they must maintain an army. But wait, an army costs gold! Wow, we just found the missing balance. Suddenly, even "hoarding" gold becomes a challenge.

The "puppet masters" (Gameforge) see the data, understand it, and slowly make adjustments for us – units are becoming more expensive. On the other hand, we got the new workshop with infinite upgrades. Maybe we don't need a huge army anymore, just a really efficient one? Hahaha it's all a matter of perspective.

By the way, I take back any bad word I might have said in the past about Gameforge's "execution." The game runs perfectly. We went through a server merge, and from my side as a player, I didn't feel a thing – completely smooth, so thank you very much! We are getting a version update every 14-21 days which is a bit dizzying. They are probably preparing to give us some kind of "boom" and are laying down the infrastructure. I didn't understand it before, but well, everyone at their own pace. We got 6-slot construction lists!! That is just wow.

And to finish, something I learned from the little Ikarians in my town, who live their lives there without even knowing what I or the gods look like: let's keep praying that life here will be perfect thanks to the "puppet masters"... shhh, Gameforge, the "All-Seeing Eye"... 😉
