Hi, can someone please explain what happened?
A few days ago, I was attacked and pillaged by this player.
Today, I did the same thing to him — attacked and pillaged — but then I got this message:
I thought that once a town is attacked and pillaged, the cultural goods are supposed to be gone.
So why did this happen to me?
He was likely occupied and you were attacked by someone else using his town as a base of operations.
Unfortunately, the game does not do a good job of showing that unless you look at the CR and not the activity report.
It really should say: PlayerName's army from Town has attacked you so it's easier to know the player that's directly responsible.

If you look at the CR then you will find the name of the attacker.

Someone else used his town as a base to attack you.
like the other said, an army "from" doesn't mean it was that towns owner.
It is kinda BS honestly that you get punished in this situation because even if you attacked without pillaging it would have had the same effect.
