Passive Defence

  • Hello

I agree with the capacity if save goods. 480 for each lvl is not enough.

If you are a veteran player than you lust have some basic knowledge how to defend you'reself. And the're are plenty of options. Build a wall and place a ship and some troops in you're city. Make some friends and ask them for help when needed. If you want to save you're goods you can use cargoships to transport big amounts of goods. And send 1 million rescources to another city. And they navigate the see slow so you can take advantage of that. You can also send you're enemy a message and talk you're way out. You can also build a small fleet or army. More generals means safety. Since generals scare you're opponent.

Last resort is gravejard but I don't recommend it since it takes a lot of time to get settled again on the good Islands and most of them are full.

  • He said he had plenty of donations so there's little reason he can't go to another server (obviously scout first before making this decision) and rebuild the mines.

Also, it's someone he tried to help RL so I doubt logic is there as he's blocked him on all messaging platforms.

There's a lot of servers and I'm sure there's some emptier ones out there.

  • If a good player wants you gone - and commits - the options are pretty bleak. Passive resistance options are mainly scatter miracles. I got pillaged alot and after a well timed scatter there was no follow up. A person will generally pillage you until there is resistance. If you can scatter all his cargo ships one or twice a day his yield wouldn't be much. Going gold mode is also a valid option. If he's truly better at combat just starve him of what he gets. Resources, offense points or fun. What i would do personally is message alliances/ players on the server about him, there might be someone willing to help. If i was on your server i would help. If its to no resolve worse case scenario you can graveyard and move to a more passive server, takes around 37 days i think

  • I was in your shoes. It took me two years to beat that player by becoming worse than him.

At first, I bought a laptop just to have a machine to play at work without using company tech / net so i don't get in trouble for playing games.
Then started making alarms. A LOT of alarms.
Also slept less and less every day.
I was playing constantly, showing that person I am always online and deflecting him, keeping 0 resources for pillage.
In the end I started bombing them.

They retreated to the edge of the map, so I made two colonies there and took him all the resources he had collected for a residency. I didn't loot them, I've destroyed that res with low capacity. The point was clear, I am the annihilator, not him.
It was well calculated attack on a vacation day that most people use to travel / visit family or friends. I took advantage of the date, started attacking at 3 am, pillaged constantly for the next 30 hours until he came back. By that time the damage was irreversible. He V modded for months to come, just to find me waiting them them and go to the Bahamas again. His alliance begged me to stop. Eventually I've decided he learned his lesson and left him alone.

Lots of high level w.houses. That's all you need. We have lots of members in our alliance that are unpillageable and after years of steady war you learn how to do this.

    ...etc

Dam i got a similar story. Returned to ika after 8 years or something - i wasn't good back them, i certainly wasn't better on the return. New server opened and as soon as my god mode came off i got pillaged every day by Player X. I didn't know how to defend, i even had a severe point disadvantage. I built my account while under pressure until my military had the ability to fight back. I lost every battle for the next 6 months or so. I learn, adapt. This wasn't a pretty war, every tactic was at hand. We built colonies on each others forges just to bleed them. This went on for about a year and a half. Over this time i attack 3 days a week, around 72 hours of constant pressure and try hide for the remaining 4. Eventually he cracked, went v mode (the first time either of us went V mode) and eventually left the server. He was a toxic person, he bullied dozens of people and caused them to leave the server - a few of them were my friends. If i didn't hold his attention i recon he could have made the rest of the server quit quite easily. I don't hate him, he is one of 3 very good players I've encountered over my time. I try searching for him from time to time... one day we meet again :')

Perseus is crazy i landed on there by accident and took the next boat out :) . A few servers i wouldn't like to be; perseus, ares servers and anything turkish

ya all the fighters merged here thinking it was a building server. The wars are now slowing down with the top 10 alliances finally getting low on gold and gen banks. Some people are making a fortune though selling gens and gold for real money. About half the players left the game so far.

Last I checked, Perseus still had 6700 accounts which was the same as around a month ago lol

  • Lot of people have given good advice and im going to repeat a lot of it here.

Time is usually your friend, you need to keep your resources under safe level.
This means being active enough to either, move, spend, sell or stop production before it goes over that limit.

I would focus on building up walls and warehouses if you go this route you might find you need more resources for the next upgrade that will fit under safe level.

in those cases what you do is build up in several towns and then, when you have time you move them to the project town and immediately spend.

stopping all production and going into gold mode is a good way to about this as you'll be able to use the gold later.

you do need to make sure you keep wine in your towns enough to keep the population up though.

depending on the attacker and your defense, you can leave piece meal defensive forces,

At a minimum you should have 1 Speer and 1 slinger, and replace every time they hit the town this will at least drag the fight out for a 2nd round.

you can also add rams, gyros and bombers..but you'll have to decide if those are worth replacing all the time.

clear your ports of ships except for 1 speed boat, this will force them to occupy the port in order to keep it open, this will require them holding it with ships and costing them money in occupation, if you have a lot of cities they might not even be able to hold all your ports at one time.

if they occupy with just a few ships then what you do is build 6 bombers and 1 ram ship and then rebel, this works best if they have ships other than front line like mortars, subs and rockets.

if they occupy with just a few front line ships you can build a small number of ships (enough to destroy their fleet in 1 round) then rebel, they'll get a message their fleet was lost but not a CR so they won't even know what was in the battle, then they'll probably occupy the port with a larger fleet which will cost htem even more money.

Move the ships out of the port once you do this leaving only 1 speed boat behind, at this point you'll need to hide it some where in between use, alternatively you can just recycle them.

if they occupy with a large fleet and you have colossus this is the time where you build enough ships to start a fight (they only need to survive 1 round) then immediately hit colossus so they get booted on teh 2nd round, you can use this tactic to open your ports up if you need to move goods but make sure your timing is right, if they are active and closed by they might try to send ships into the fight.. so try to time your colossus to the last few seconds of the 1st round so that any new ships also get scattered.

you can also conduct harassment attacks on their towns but I won't go into that cause I think that's gonna be too much for you unless you want to hear about them.

Eventually they will get the hint and leave you alone at least for a while if they're not getting anything out of it their won't be any profit of any sort in it for them and tthat will take away the motivation, this works 99% of the time.. but the amount of time will vary.

But be warned this could be a temporary solution.. as even if they stop attacking you they might leave you be for say a month and then come to check on you again.

  • Considering they had a falling out IRL, this isn't simply someone out for a profit, it's someone out for revenge.

So while your strategy would work for someone looking to pillage, it's likely less effective for someone that's angry with someone over a perceived (real or imagined) slight IRL.

    Passive Defence

Probably the best bet would be having enough freighters and enough distance between your towns that you could effectively kite resources back and forth if you're unwilling to graveyard.

But that's also subject to being intercepted by your ports.

It's one of those things, if he wants to make your Ikariam life miserable and has more time than you do to do so, he will.

  • it's just a matter of time, it's rare for even personal beefs to run that long.. it does mean it will take longer.

I personally don't recommend graveyarding or warping away, you can't do this every time you get into a spat with another player.

If after a reasonable amount of time the player doesn't get the hint and leave him alone you hire a mercenary to go after them.

EDIT: Also I don't recommend Vmode as it just drags it out.. the other guy is spending no resources to attack while they're in vmode so all they have to do is wait.

If you're using time as a weapon then you need that player engaged wasting time and gold getting nothing in return.

Instead of Vmode gold mode is better.

  • Sure, but this is more than a spat.

There's plenty of reasonable players I've run across that I was able to settle up with so we could engage in a mutually beneficial relationship.

There's only been one that I haven't been able to sustain that type of relationship with so far.

But I don't mind an Ikariam vacation. It's fun in its own way to graveyard and start over somewhere else.

Granted, I am in the process of building 3 accounts to graveyard right now so it's one of those things I enjoy doing.

  • like I said hire a mercenary, there are plenty of players out there that love nothing but fighting in this game, most players aren't this type of player but there are enough of them that they are often bored with nothing to do.

bribe them with goods as payment or direct cash (IRL)

you might even get lucky and find one that just needs a good excuse and does it for free..
