Change Monuments

  • In Ikariam, there are some monuments that are completely useless — especially depending on whether we're at war or just farming. Depending on the current situation, some monuments are clearly more useful than others.

So, my idea is simple: allow us to destroy the current monument on our island (with a certain amount of time required to do so, similar to what we already have with Governor changes), and give us the option to build a different one. There should also be a construction time and a cooldown period before being able to rebuild other monument again.

:!::!:It would also be great to have some kind of voting system, where all players with a town on the island can vote on which monument to build.
That way, decisions would reflect the needs of the whole island community, not just one player — and it would prevent anyone from changing the monument by themselves without the agreement of the others.:!::!:

  • I can imagine an enemy planting a bunch of floaters on someone's forge/poseidon/colossus island and then "voting" to change the wonder to something useless. While well intentioned, I think this would be even more dangerous than wonder leeches.

I vote no on this suggestion.

    Turmoil's in the air

Hold your breath be deadly calm

    Make a final prayer

Don't forget what you have done

The opposite way would also be possible.

Someone aggresively moving onto your Island and forcing others to change the Miracle to whichever they like.

For Players who play F2P, relocating your city is not rly an option (except if you graveyard but most wouldnt want to do that) so it would be very annoying if after you joined an Island, the Miracle gets changed into another one which you might not want/need.

War with no conspiration is silly! False-flags, sabotage, proxy war , riots it all in the hell we must find in a good game!

  • The less used miracles just need an update

I think all the the miracles could take an update, even the ones that are used a lot.

Poseidon is proly the only one that shouldn't be changed at all, though I wouldn't mind if the duration got changed (towards f.e 8hr instead of 4hr and vice versa double the cooldown, so we dont have to activate it every 4hr).

For me, the isle worship would not affect the city miraculous.

This issue you created is kind of easy to fix, and you know it.

Actually, there are many possible ways to prevent it from happening.

    1) One option is to simply not allow people to change Monuments when someone on the isle is at war, or if any city on the isle is occupied.
    2) Only allow players to vote who have had cities on the island for more than X days.

And of course the cooldown to constroy/destroy make this tatic u suggested harder to happens

The real problem is that many Monuments are simply useless, while others are much more commonly used and beneficial, and the islands where these good monuments are located are usually always full, while nearby islands with bad monuments are completely abandoned.

  • Another approach could be having the possibility to attack/defend the monument.

I'm just writing "out loud". The monument could have its own units which are defending it (the Barbarians itselves?) and other players could attack it to damage it (temporarily reducing the miracle effect?). Other players (island players and other allied?) could defend the miracle to avoid being conquered (and having the loss of the miracle).

This could create new tactics to conduce a war...

But in general I agree on the fact there are useless miracles which should be somehow changed to something more useful.

I would avoid letting players to chose the miracle tho.
