  • Thank you JamesBond79 ! This is exactly what I wanted to see and expected, but wanted to make sure :S

  • Since workshop upgrades are going to be a major recourse sink, they should contribute to scores (if they don't yet?).

I would add the points to scientist score, with similar multiplier for crystals as when spent on buildings. And some kind of multiplier for spent gold as well. This would make the scientist high scores relevant again as well since they've been maxed for years.

if this isn't a jump the shark moment I don't know what is, *SMH*

Where is this game even going development wise? you boost levels and costs, then you boost resource to offset the gigantic costs (well not really but it does back track a bit)

Does the team actually have a plan or is it it just tinker with stuff to keep idiots playing until the cow dies?

Deffo the latter! This is exactly how I imagine this whole "update" goes, cept there is no team but one person changing numbers ^^

There's two different styles that a game like this (or any game) can head towards.

    1) Everything has an achievable cap, and then once you cap all of those buildings in every town, then what? That was Ikariam's old style.

    2) There is no effective cap and costs increase exponentially. This is how Ogame operates (which is another game by Gameforge).

A lot of the community's confusion/frustration with the changes is that Ikariam used to have a de facto end. For example, once you got all researches to 25, you didn't need to invest in research anymore. Once you had all upgrades to 3/3, you didn't need to do upgrades anymore and could tear the Workshop, etc.

Personally, that's what I've always felt was lacking in Ikariam. Mostly because once you max out all your towns, the only thing left to do in the game is pillage other players and collect as much gold as possible by selling all your resources.

The changes are in the direction that you should always feel like you can work towards something: more warehouses, more ships, more upgrades, more cities, etc.

An additional benefit to these changes is that there's always a reason to open your wallet, too, because you can always have more, more, more.

Plus, there's already someone with 1b points in Ikariam, so this update is for him.

I understand that a big dislike of this update (and the Black Market in general) is that it allows players to win by mass. As in that they can inefficiently send troops at you and simply overwhelm you because of the strength of their economy. Infinite troop upgrades also encourage this, but the reality is that if you actually upgrade your troops someone with 10x your score should have +3/3 on you at best.

Personally, I never understood this argument, because even before the Black Market, my friend and I effectively built our economies to do war of attrition style attacks. If someone attacked one of my alliance members, it was never 1v1 retaliation, it was always all of us versus that person.

I expect that person spent a lot of money to get there.

Yes. A billionaire could easily spend a million dollars on this game without even caring.

For example, in BDO, here's someone who spent 160k on the game simply because he didn't have anything else to do during the pandemic: Is BDO P2W? | Interview with one of the biggest Whales of Black Desert

Here's another example of someone who spent so much money on Adventure Capitalist that his bank started rejecting the charges and he had to go get Steam gift cards: 100% Speedrunning AdVenture Capitalist is very expensive

  • I don't quite get it.

Version 14.0.0 is out, but it is not possible to upgrade past the old levels, despite the game hinting you could:

Worse, you can't even see the upgrade costs in the help, which was different on the test server:

  • Empty your cache and relog. This should be a caching issue and work fine with an empty cache.

Am Anfang wurde das Universum erschaffen.

Das machte viele Leute sehr wütend und wurde allenthalben als Schritt in die falsche Richtung angesehen.

  • It's working in Pangaia
