Infinite Horizons 2

  • Yes, that's correct. The old strategy was to simply have really low level ports so no one could pillage you quickly. It was changed relatively early.

  • A small port can still be good if you get attacked by ships a lot. But thats a trick not everyone knows about and the less the better.

  • True, but with ports it's a lot more manageable to manipulate the battlefield size.

  • Passing on a suggestion from within my alliance:

It would be nice to get a notification when an upgrade is finished. Especially if you are upgrading multiple things at the same time.

  • I remember demolishing port and the guy had to load his army for almost a week he said XD

Everybody knows about it and the counter is to ask a friend outside of the alliance to "help" the enemy with 2k pads.

I mean, that is the MAIN reason sub alliances exist

  • Not everyone knows about it or has friends close especially when they ambro a town to a premium spot in the heart of our mains. We farmed all their friends on our islands a long time ago.

  • If I upgrade, in the workshop the freightners 1 level, the ones I already have will be automatically upgraded?

    Yes

  • What other limitations have ya'll encountered for upgrades besides level 4 for both types of cargo ships?

  • What other limitations have ya'll encountered for upgrades besides level 4 for both types of cargo ships?

Each unit has its own workshop level that can make its first upgrade and from there on they need +1 workshop level to make their next upgrade. When a unit upgrade requires workshop level 33, then an insufficient building message appears. For example, merchant ships are level 29. This means that for the time being and the data so far, they can make 4 upgrades (29-30-31-32). Hoplites started at level 4 and therefore logically they can make 29 upgrades, etc.

The formula that results from this is 32(max workshop level)-X(first level the unit needs to make its first upgrade)+1. For infantry it is 32-4+1=29. For merchant ships it is 32-29+1=4

  • Barbarian warfare totally changed by the new changes, and there isn't the slightest mentioned in the change log.

Let me explain. Long before I have planned to bit the barbarianism 50 Level in 3 different islands, in order to achieve the respective achievement, not to mention the res gained from barbarians till then. It was a extremely happy consistence, that just few days before the launch of the new version, that I had finished my task. I was / am waiting for Level to drop below level 50, in order to dismiss my armies (that is because barbarians below level 50 don't have balloons and gyros, so own towns are immune from attacks because of air defense in them).

Having prepared - built 3 workshops top level 32 - I was ready, and started upgrading once the version was launched. Here is the battle with Level 50 Barbarians, with 5 Level forge on

That's 86 loses versus 368. So, one would say, let's upgrade, keep the troops, and keep on milking the barbarians. And that's what I did.

Upgraded: Giants -7 attack 5 armour, Swords-8 attack 10 armour, Muskets –5 attack, Grenades –4 attack 4 Armour, Balloons 5 attack 6 Armour.

So, I think, "let's test our new power". Well, weep with me...

163 loses versus 303 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No only the upgrades had zero effects, but I guess the barbarians upgraded....infinitely indeed!

That was a huge disappointment, because there was no warning and no description of is going on, and because I was very excited to upgrade as much as possible, but take the pay-back by milking the barbarians.

So, unfortunately, back to the original plan, wait till the level drops, and dismiss my army...

  • Are the first CRs before the update?

  • According to the screens the most effective change is in the flanks

This is because the battle system does not always use the same way to calculate losses and distribute damage, so in some cases a lot of potential damage can be lost

I tried to investigate it several years in the past but i reach no conclusion.

  • Yes the first crs are before the upgrade. And no, the problem is not only in the flags, if you notice, before the upgrade I lost 12 giants, after I lost 23. And not only that. For the whole battle total damage received before was ~100.000, double that after ~200.000!

I think you're talking about this.

    Ikariam Battle System

After the update it has become invalid, right?

  • And no, the problem is not only in the flags, if you notice, before the upgrade I lost 12 giants, after I lost 23

The difference in giants is caused by the difference in balloons : less ballons, more barbarias artillery, more giant lost.

The very worrying situation is in flanks and in ballons

I think you're talking about this.

    Ikariam Battle System

After the update it has become invalid, right?

Some situations could become invalid, for example if in that paper is written a certain amount of unit kill a certain amount of an other unit ( es: 3 rokets kill 1 steam ram) now it can be false since now the forge effect with the new base units values causes more damage.

But the battle system itself is the same. The attacking matrix theory, the redistribution damage theory ecc ecc is the same.

Unfortunately i was not able to understand and reproduce the battle system itself completely, even if it is deterministic ( that means same starting situation, same ending situation)

In the past that was not a big problem because you only need to test and collect data.

Now every player can have different ups, and there is the possibility that with different combination of them killed units and damage redistribution are different. And of course you cannot undone ups so you may fall in a situation where an up cause a disadvantage instead of an advantage, and is not possible to test all possible combination of ups , so in a certain sense battle are left to chance. No real chance, obviously there is always the same algorithm running but since we do not know it is like chance for players.

  • Trying to explain the situation in flanks

    before the new version

    swordman attack (10+3)* 1,2 ~15

    (barbarians swordmen have no armour)

15*42=630 ( NB: the attack groups of swordmen is [36,42,42,42,42,36] according to AM theory)

630/18=35. So in the past version the losses in "central" slots are calculated by using a simple division total damage/ life

After the new version and the up of post 252

    swordman attack (200+8) * 1.2 ~ 249

    249*42=10458

but 10458 is not divisible by 360 ( 360 is the new life of barbarian swordmen)

So the losses this time are calculated in an other way.
