Infinite Horizons 2

  • Just a little sidenote for everyone that looks to the various Ikariam wiki's for information

With the release of Patch 13.0.0:

All wiki's will now have incorrect information when it comes to the following:

    • All Unit Upgrade information will be not 100% correct
    • All Ship Upgrade information will not be 100% correct
    • All BUILDINGS upgrade information will be OFF (some levels will be short and some levels will be over), but not 100% correct
    • The SAWMILL Upgrade information will not be 100% correct (some levels will be short and some levels will be over)

  • If they increase their ship capacity, the revenues of free trade ship ambrosia will decrease.

  • You can upgrade the Cargo ships / Phoenician Merchant ships and Freighters / Phoenician Freighters up a few (not unlimited) times then you get a message that your building is not high enough to upgrade it further!

Speculation is that the 1st line of patch 13.0.0 says "Prepare for the next upgrade" means that the workshop will be upgraded (more levels added) in the next upgrade.

It would be useful to send a notification to the city news when the unit inventor process is completed in the inventor workshop.

I asked in English, the system did it in Turkish.

  • That is what I theorizing that the 1st line of the patch notes that says "Preparations for the next update" is for

I theorize that there will be Workshop building upgrades, plural, in the next patch

  • Hello all. As I am rebuilding the workshop, is it helpful if you have 2 (or more) instead of 1?
Can you upgrade in both of them, at the same time diffirent units?

Yes. Further, there is an achievement for having 3 Workshops.

    That came with the update?

Because at version 12, in the workshop couldn't upgrade 2 or more different units simultaneously

    No.

Once you are +6, you won't have the crystal to do multiple upgardes at once.

You can upgrade at every single one of them together different units, but in just 1 week you'd be done with everything.

You can not do more than 1 upgrade at a time in a workshop! You have to have more than 1 workshop to do a different upgrade at the same time, one in each workshop! This has always been like this since 2009

  • I'm not sure if it has been posted in this discussion yet, but upgrading your trade ships now has the side-effect that it will take more time to pillage.

    How so?

Each trade ship has a self loading capacity of 15 goods per minute during pillages. Which is why it takes you 33 minutes and 20 seconds maximum to load up the ships. When we got more ships in the past, this always scaled because there were more boats to increase the speed (hence keeping it in balance).

But right now, with my boats upgraded to 580 capacity (soft limit as of today), the loading speed is still at 15 per minute per boat. And that makes the loading process slower: down to 38 minutes and 40 seconds maximum.

I think this makes sense, but I wonder if this was intended during development, or whether it was a side-effect that got overlooked. Especially in a future where the boats might get even more capacity, slower loads might be a handicap if you want to fight and pillage during wars.

One way to solve it is to scale the speed to the capacity of the boats. Making the speed 3% instead of fixed 15 would keep the speed in line with the original design.

    For example:

    3% of 600 = 18

    600 / 18 = 33 minutes 20 seconds

  • Good point about the loading speed, Im not sure if the dev's considered that, I'd be in favor of them adjusting but I wonder how they settled on the load speed that it currently is in the first place.

Probably still worth upgrading even if it doesn't get adjusted though.

No such side effect with the freighters though.

Well with the freighters you don't pillage, but obv. if you use a Freighter with 52.000 capacity it also needs more time to load the ressources then if it was only 50.000 capacity.

Not sure I'd call it a handycap, after all you still pillage more ressources per minute through Upgrades and you need less trade-ships to travel with your land-units (or can afford to have a bigger land-army because your trade-ships have more capacity to move them around).

After all the Capacity-Upgrades are not as good as first expected because of the longer loading time for pillaging, but still increase the pillaged ressources per minute nicely.

uh.. ya.. but that's a feature not a bug, don't want to load 52k worth of goods then don't. sending 100k with 2 unupgraded freighters also takes longer than 1 @ 50k incredible but true. 8o

No such side effect with the freighters though.

As far as I remember, in the old days loading speed when pillaging was determined by the size/loading capacity of the Trading Port in the town you were pillaging. This made upgrading trading Port's questionable as to what level was usefull and not a hazard.

As people got more towns it became a nuisance as you had to load big quantities to upgrade GR's etc. and that could take ages.

Eventually they changed loading time when pillaging in a constant 15 goods per minute per ship, resulting in the aforementioned 33 minutes and 20 seconds.

I could be wrong so please correct me, my memory ain't what it used to be

  • You sure dont want to have to move an army of thousands from a level 1 port. it could take a day.
