  • I have maxed my hidouts to level 60 already in all of my cities. What will happen to people already exceeding the next max level. Hidout is easy to get to level 60! others might be harder and still below the limits for all players.

  • ignore that.

They did NOT lower any building levels - They just made the HELP screen NOT show all of the levels!!!

  • So do we get an extra building spot or do we have to destroy one to build the workshop that we were told was not needed after all upgrades?

tbh I am a developed account and having to destroy a building for a workshop sounds annoying. I can do it, but kind of don't want to.....

At the same time the extra spot for other towns will be used for warehouses which turn out to be the real MvP in the end of the day!

How come you don't have any space to build the workshop?

I have 14 cities and only 1 of them is complete. In total I have 33 free spaces to build. I only have one embassy, one market, one nautique charts archive and all of them in the same city.

I don't need more buildings and I also don't have the resources to upgrade unimportant buildings. I only have 1 warehouse and 1 depot in each city and with the change in capacity they are more than enough. I was able to build level 14 residences.

When they gave the 3 building places last year, I wasn't greedy to fill them right away. I knew more buildings would come and they kept appearing (sanctuary of the gods). And I bet more will appear in the next versions. Occupying the entire city with warehouses isn't smart.

how you haven't any place to build the workshop?

I have 14 cities and only one of them is full.

I have a total of 36 vacants spaces which I don't see the reason to build nothing.

I am playing on a war server after the merge.
All my towns have all the res reducing buildings, resource acquire (wood+lux) buildings, Museoums and taverns, Barracks, Academy, Temples, Sea Chart Archives, Hideouts, Dump + 2 or 3 warehouses. The cities with 2 warehouses have a spot for: Either a black market, a trading post, an Embassy, a Gods' Shrine,
I have to either make a new city or demolish a warehouse....and having just two warehouses can NOT protect my daily resource production so I can not afford to login just once a day and move it out, I have to login at least 3 times and constantly move res around.

The cities with 3 warehouses manage 50% better, obviously and I'd definitely enjoy to have as many warehouses as possible, because the safe resource capacity is a pure joke!

P.S. Our leader has an Embassy in every town, which limits him to just 1 warehouse, you can imagine the effects of that....

  • Cuz I been at war since we came to perseus server. You dont have 5 warehouses then you will become a farm. You ever been sieged by 3 guys with a total gen score of well over a million? It's not pretty.

  • Yes, the enemies I fought with demolished to build 5 warehouses and we are the ones pillaging them on a daily basis.

And even with 5 warehouses AND ambrosia expand, we find res on a daily basis!

If we find a farm, we'd probably make a mass pillage with 20-50 players depending on who is online and drain massively. Think our record was 10 or 11mil res stolen at once!

  • Hello badidol ,

now that we talked about my concerns regarding the Town Hall costs, in the german channel of the ikariam discord server, I have had some time to think about the update.

Here’s my Feedback, and a few questions:

    1. Building costs and building time. – OK (as long as the Town Hall prices are indeed bugged)

My first thought is that you had to change the formula for cost growth, to achieve code optimization for future updates. Is that correct? If not, then why change the costs?

    2. Upgrades. – Not OK. I dont like the way this has been handled.

In order for Upgrades to not be too strong, you had to scale up the stats of the units. For this, you chose the factor x20. However, you didnt scale the previous original three upgrades with the new factor.

Even though the selling point of the „new upgrades“ update is that they’re „infinite“, they are in fact capped by the resource cost. Im going to approximate the cost growth as a linear function with a factor of about x2, per level of Upgrade.

In order to achieve the exact same power, that each and every unit/ship currently has on the live servers, we need to get our Upgrades up to level 60.

Thats a cost of about – „base cost“ x 259 – for the 60th upgrade alone. This is unrealistic to be ever achieved under current production circumstances.

This essentially means, that the „infinite upgrade“ update removes our existing three Upgrades (reduce attack and armor of each unit/ship), and makes us pay infinitely to get back to the same stats.

I believe that updates should add something to the game, instead of removing from it.

I am strongly in favor for a small change to this:

    Old unit stats „a“

    Old unit upgrades +3 „b“

    New units stats: a x20 + b x20

New upgrades same as old upgrades: +1/+1 and +2/+2

By doing this, we will start at the exact same power level at which units/ships have been for over a decade. Additional „infinite“ upgrades can start from here.

Once this is addressed, the wonder Hephaestus Forge will also need to be adjusted:

Level 5 Forge currently gives 20% attack and 2 armor. This should also be scaled up with the new factor too:

New level 5 Forge: 20% attack and 40 armor.

Was this intended, or is it a Town Hall situation again? If it was intended, then why?

If the update goes live like this, all that is going to happen is that there are going to be more unit losses per round. An artificial increase of military losses. If this was in fact the goal, then again I believe that the problem of inflationary military could’ve been handled better:

Add bigger battlefields. Just like there already are different battlefields for specific Town Hall levels.

    3. Closing remarks.

Its always good to see that there are new updates coming to the game. I have enjoyed every update you have released in the last few years. I believe you are on the right track.

Please do the military side of the game justice. Lets move forwards, not backwards.

Im impressed there are any servers war or otherwise that muster 20-50 active people in an alliance at one time.

  • Uhh, I’ve read a lot of comments, and I don’t know what to say. To be honest, some of the upcoming changes scare me a little. So far, Ikariam has been a fairly balanced game—realistically, even a weaker account with a skilled owner had a chance to defend against a much stronger account. Now, I think that won’t be possible anymore because stronger accounts will be able to afford upgrades much faster. I’m not sure how this will affect weaker players and how fair it will be.

Additionally, you mentioned that city walls are now losing their role, and I don’t know how good that is. Offline players already don’t experience much advantage from high walls, and now cities will be even easier to raid. I don’t know, I really don’t. I just hope that the people at Gameforge are reading our comments and will adjust certain things because if some of these changes go live, I don’t think they will have a positive impact on the game.

  • And just one more thing, the total number of points will decrease because the required amount of resources for buildings has changed? I’m not sure if I understood correctly. If that’s the case, I don’t see how that can be good math when those resources have already been spent?

  • looks like (in general) they're going to make lower buildings cheaper but it looks like higher buildings will actually become more expensive lol which kinda funny considering how much the high level buildings cost already.

Like anything, the true tally will always be in resources.

  • I really don’t know what the new update will look like exactly, but I swear that what I’m reading so far is making me feel uncertain. I calculated that even though I already have a pretty strong account, building the 16th city requires an absurd amount of time—talking about a period longer than 15 months, and that’s assuming I stay online, don’t go into vacation mode, and don’t get into long-term wars. If expensive buildings become even more expensive, I honestly think I might give up on ever building the 16th city, and that every city wall of mine will just be a pile of wasted resources. On top of that, the pressure on gold is enormous, especially since the need for gold keeps growing with every new change.

  • badidol Test on server There were increases in Town Halls in 6 of my cities before the update. 4 of them have been completed. Now the upgrades have stopped in two of my cities. Time does not move at all. What is the reason? It's currently in a bug state, we're just waiting.

Will you make a return on the municipality buildings? Will the resources I spent be refunded?

Since I have a couple of buildings that exceed those levels.

“Victory is reserved for those who are willing to pay it’s price.”

  • They are just trying to get more people to pay to play. Pretty greasy in my humble opinion.

Lots of better ways to improve the game then this but it's all about the money.

  • How the interaction with the barbarian work? After the scale to the units do the barbarians scale the same (consider that they was built in with some armor stronger compare to the regular units?)
