Piracy - town hall requirement

  • Hello everybody!

I would like to suggest that in order to build pirate fortress you would have to have higher level town hall. Around lv. 10 or higher.

This would in my opinion make piracy game a lot more exciting since you could not simply place around lv1 colony and immediately raid people. You would actually need to develop it first. This would also mean that other people could actually stop you - or at least have a fighting chance by pillaging it and blockading port.

I know what you will be saying: but you can warp a town with ambrosia. yes you can and you still could. but at least people would have to spend real life money to do it. so this is also good change for developers.

I also don't believe that it would be a hard thing to technically implement since there already exist buildings that have town hall level requirements (Shrine and Dockyard)

What do you think? any suggestions or counterarguments?

  • People who play Pirates are already dedicating a large part of their time to it. Gathering pirates, turning them into strength, attacking other players, and defending their points. By doing so, you've already invested a lot of time and effort, so of course, a colony with a pirate stronghold at level 1 should be enough to carry out a raid on another player. Any further difficulty doesn't make any sense and piracy game will lost their purpose.

  • My godly protection account would lose its way of making small but regular amounts of gold. No from me, sorry. The last buildings, Dockyard and the more important Shrine, are already denied to such accounts for reasons beyond me, but a conscious decision on GF's part, so obviously not an oversight.

  • I was thinking earlier about the update of piracy system, and I would go with alternative solution of piracy research requiring bureaucracy.

    1. It would discourage the people pirate framing the capture points through their spare accounts. The threshold of entrance is significantly higher.
    2. It reduces the mobile city raids. Some of the spare accounts are often planting mobile cities many times a day to raid other players. With every pirate having bureaucracy, it allows to organize port blockages to prevent mobile cities from popping up.
    3. Indirectly the influence of high level pirate fortress is increased. It makes them the only reliable source for long range raids, when mobile cities are controlled.

The mechanics of Premium shop city transfers would still remain though. But if someone wants to burn dollars, I'm happy for them to support Ikariam servers

Why can't you build the shrine?

    I also don't know why it isn't just TH35, Palace 10, OR GR10 instead of TH35 or GR10.

GF made requirements that a godly protection account cannot meet, that is requires Seat of the Gods research, which needs Town Hall L5 or higher. Clearly deliberate, like the Dockyard restriction, but as to why...

  • Gotcha, so the only way you could do it is if you had premium.

Yep, and once I do that I have to renew continually and if unavailable to login for some reason near to the expiry, I lose the status. Simply not worth the aggravation.

Per this post, you actually can do it and don't lose godly protection when premium runs out.

Obviously, for safety's sake, I'd recommend you create an additional account and test it.
