Suggestion: New researches

  • It's not typical for the HUGE players to have cities apart, if anything they're all on 1 island and just convert resources.

    Indeed, it took me 3 weeks to transport 200m of resources to the capital to upgrade GR16, although all my towns in one island.

  • In my opinion, cargo ships should simply not receive any speed upgrade. The only reason I’m saying this is because I believe they would become too overpowered. They can be afforded for a reasonable amount of gold, and they play a HUGE role in transporting large amounts of resources. Here's some firsthand information: 35 cargo ships cover all the needs of an 80-million-point account. Even though I plan to buy more, I’m already very satisfied with what I have. Most of the transfers take place at night, and I transport a satisfactory amount of resources for my needs. I still don’t think that the next ship I’m going to buy is unaffordable. Simply put, any upgrade to cargo ships and increasing their speed would give far more advantages to strong players who already have many of them. It would only widen the gap between super-strong accounts, mid-level accounts, and accounts that might not even have a single cargo ship yet.

    So if the needs are already easily covered what would those advantages from extra speed be?
    It's only useful if you have colonies that are slightly apart and at the moment the speed of the cargo ships makes you have them all in one place (either one island or neighbouring ones) unless you wish to wait 7-10 days for a transport with them.

    I, too, would like a research that gives *freighters*, the ships with 50,000 capacity, more speed.

    Nothing insane, as freighters still have their role and not trying to step on that.

    Maybe add it on to the seafaring future.

    I'm not against this. It would definitely make the seafaring future more interesting. Plus, levels behind 25 could simply increase the trade ship cargo space without giving a further discount to navy upkeep.

  • i have a suggestion with freighters as well.... when using trading post to purchase troops from nearby BM, you may send freighters.. to pick up the TROOPS or SHIPS... or you can send cargo ships.... but other than trade.. freighers may only move resources around.. and never troops...


    what is the logic behind this???


    also.. any suggestions on adding any researches... keep in mind the players that maxed their researched and demolished their academy for extra building space... you cant add too many more levels of new research otherwise you would devastate those players....

  • This is my opinion:


    • Cargo ships are fine as they are!
    • Freighters could use a speed boost by #% per level not by +#'s per level, just like all of the other boosters are, probably in the Seafaring researches
    • Building construction speed could use a boost by #% per level, probably in the Economy researches


    P.S.All servers, well MOST servers, have a bonus or malus to Ship building speeds, Army training speeds, Building construction speeds, Cargo travel speeds, etc. ..., so this can not be a reason for nor against having researches boost them or not. The only option I have not seen yet is the Battle Moral, Pillage Gold nor the Theft Security for Gold, options yet on normal servers! They may be reserved for the Ares Global (War) servers!

    Why?

    That's a known risk everyone takes who is destroying an academy, the same goes for the Workshop and the Depot.


    No one "knows" whether there will be new Researches, Unit Upgrades, or Balance changes (f.e to make the Depot more viable again) so everyone who destroys them to free up space for other Buildings, has to accept that there exists the possibility of having to rebuild them at some point.


    There are also People speculating that there could be changes in the future who don't free up these building spaces to not having to rebuild them again, but that means there's a building spot occupied.


    I destroyed a lot of Buildings like academies and leveled Depots shortly before new Building levels (v8.8.0) were introduced and Depots became worse then warehouse, happens, that was a risk I was willing to take since I didn't expect any Ikariam Updates back then, luckily times have changed and we receive multiple Updates per year.

    So everyone should be very much aware, that changes can happen.

    but what about the logistics of freighters moving troops only through blackmarket ?


    i dont get it. you can you load... SHIPS into freighters... because purchasing units from BM you can use cargo.. freighters... or merchants... only time freighters can be used to move troops.. i dont get it


    if you use your imagination.. its possible.. these freighters.. are probably the size of noahs ark.. im not a bible person... but sure you store a whole damn fleet within one freighter.. kind of blows my mind how it works.... troops sure.. theyre just units.. but fleet... come on.

  • also workshops are easy to replace... as no player really needed more than 1 at a time..


    but academies are a different story...


    but adding future levels would be a good idea.. any type of level of any sorts would be a bonus...
