sounds like some sorta raid boss.. maybe it randomly appears in different parts of the map.
The really interesting part will be how the loot is dived.
Is someone going to be able to shove 100k slingers into the fight, do nothing and collect the lion share because they technically brought the largest army?
or will it keep track of damage done and award loot proportionally?
if that's the case there will be arguments of who's men are actually on the field getting all that sweet DD.
then again they could just award it for showing up but then we have the problem of people sending 1 speerman and some cooks to ride out the fight do nothing and collect.. same problem.
Then again they could just award you proportionally based on what you brought.. meaning just showing up you get X amount of resources for Y amount MS
and it's just generated for each player. everyone gets their own loot pile. that solves the 100k slinger loot stealing.. but still presents the issue of they showed up with worthless units that probably never seen battle and got rewarded.
Maybe im barking up the wrong tree here but based off the tiny scraps of info posted in this thread that's what it sounds like.
In which case I do not envy the Dev team trying to come up with a reasonable, fair and logical reward system.

It might also depend on whether you are considered to be attacking or defending. If behind notional walls, then slinger only for eventual front line has a lot to commend it while we prepare. But yes, relative balances might be an issue, especially if someone withdraws troops after one round. My guess is therefore that there will be new types of units introduced at the same time, which might have to be purchased collectively, so that proper divisions of loot can be made on that basis.

I think they do that, but you'd have to get on a "top 50" list. ![]()
I heard the merge was postponed, so we're "back in the game". ![]()
Version 11.0.0 07.08.2024 10:00 - 14:00 CEST
Yes, monsters come before the merge.
Abyssal Ambush ![]()
(Abyssal is relating to or denoting the depths or bed of the ocean, especially between about 10,000 and 20,000 feet (3,000 and 6,000 m) down.)

How is the update coming tomorrow but "the description coming in a few days"?
good question !!
It is a question for Draxo
Quite simple: the new version will be deployed tomorrow but it does not mean that the even will be activated at the same time.

So there will be (seemingly) no change tomorrow? ![]()
Molto semplice: la nuova versione verrà distribuita domani, ma ciò non significa che l'evento verrà attivato contemporaneamente.
Quindi (apparentemente) non ci saranno cambiamenti domani?
it would seem that there will be the new version that will support the event, but that the event will be activated later

Draco, please.... it's impossible that you don't know what the event will consist of!!! It doesn't seem very nice of you to continue to keep everything so mysterious....
If they were preparing the background, why did they reveal the name now?
Wouldn't it be better if it came with main informations?

They proposed ver 11 , Abyssal Ambush is a part of it. If they don't activated tomorrow ,this doesn't mean other parts won't be activated.

good point it might actually be that the players need to do something to prepare or trigger it.

So do I have to throw a stone into the well where the monster lives to start the event on the whole server? ![]()
And then (after the event is over) the whole server will "thank" me. ![]()

I don't know enough about the mythology of the hydra to make an accurate prediction but it might be something like.
you've stolen some treasure(s) the hydra wants and it appears after enough has been stolen.
or it could be that one god employees you to do something that angers another god and then that god summons a monster to punish you (or the server)
ya that sorta thing.
It also just be a timed spawn "world boss" and they can just pause the timer till they're ready to activate it.
They wouldn't go thru the trouble for a one off event, although taking a card from MMORPG's once the system is in place they could probably easily tweak stats, rewards, monster types in the future and manually spawns them for events.
It's likely that they're separating the deployment of the patch with turning the feature of the patch on. It's frequently done in a lot of games.
This way they can deploy it, test it, and verify everything is working correctly.
testing should be done on a test server, at least that's good practice.
but I do agree they could deploy the patch with it disabled in whole or in part.. that's what made me wonder if they're going to have stuff we need to do to prepare.
like we might have new units, research, etc.. there might even be different levels to it. we all kinda think this is gonna be a world boss
but it just might be that there are smaller monsters that are individualize for each player that the avg player can take on by them selves.
Think of it like Barbarian village (only you) and a global barbarian village. (whole server) that kinda system.
that might even be the key to getting a world boss to spawn, maybe we kill it's babies, like "hydra head, or Hydra hatchling" and after a while it gets pissed and mama shows up.
so I don't think they would deploy the whole thing before merger, on the other hand I thought they needed a lot more time with this.. so if it's ready to be patched to the live servers then they appear to be ahead of schedule.. either that or they was downplaying the time it was going to take to finish and it was already mostly finished and in testing when they teased it..
shrine of the gods was teased before release but it wasn't a really long time either so it's plausible it was nearly done already.
Guess we'll know soon enough although I'd really like to get thru the merger first.

Why should Draxo disclose anything at this stage? Equal opportunities for everyone means making the information available for everyone at the same time.
I have no idea what is to come, so I'm purely speculating at this point: perhaps it is not a bad thing this update is rolled out before the merge happens. It would, in theory, allow players to experience the PvE ahead of the merge, allowing them to optimize their city placement post-merge.
I don't know enough about the mythology of the hydra to make an accurate prediction.
The Hydra's nest in the swamps of Lerna in the ancient city of Argolis was located at the very mouth of the gate between the afterlife and the world of humans, and the Hydra acted as the guardian of this gate.
I hope I could help create the "scenario" of the update. ![]()
