This feature is stupid and not creative. It's get no innovations in game. It is same as Pirating only that here you are loosing troops. You should consider adding new buildings, new units in fight, new scientific options,... I would like that I can turn this event off since I get no use form it and Blue Stripe with event is always in my town when I log in.

Well I could suggest a system but it would be wildly different and take a lot more work to implement.
I would have went with multiple monsters showing up on the map like the sea barbarians.. each one would be a normal fight and would be naval based.
multiple people could join a fight so it would be like a hunt on the map for them they would respawn randomly both in time and location.
you could have land monsters on islands also.
if you want to get spicy add in random attacks on player towns and fleets either in travel or in port (both land and sea)
wanna get extra spicy with it have traveling fleets subject to harassment, "Your cargo fleet has been attacked by monster-X, send out your fleet to free it"
You could even select how many war ships to send to escort the cargo fleetlarger cargo movements would draw more attention.. more cargo ships = higher risk of attack
war ships lower risk of attack.
when enough small monsters are destroyed bigger boss'er monsters show up, the event damage meter now becomes "anger" meter.
mama is pissed.
rewards are handed out on a per monster basis just like looting a town no need to wait till the very end.
different monsters could have different types of loot (resource types), boss monsters could drop random inventory items / gold.the players who kill the most monsters or do the most damage (in total) could still get bonus rewards in the form of inventory items.
so you could keep the competitive global aspect.
the sea monsters unlike the barbarians would be global also so multiple people could attack any particular monster.
to keep people with huge MS from just dominating an entire area though you could limit each player to attacking 1 monster at a time.
each monster would have specific weaknesses those could be found out via spying, just change the language a bit.
more scouts = better chance of reporting back, sometimes the monster eats the scouts obviously.. the monster might even attack your town
if it catches your scouts/spies.. it follows their scent back to home.
"Our scouts have reported this monster has a fur covered body will be highly susceptible to fire (hint send fame ships)""Our scouts have reported this monster has a hard shell, we will need something powerful to crack it (hint send mortars)"
"Our scouts have reported this monster has a soft body, we should be able to pierce it easily (hint send hops, archers, speermen, rams, etc)"
... you get the idea
Im not sure why they didn't just take a lot of what the barbarians already are and just make it into a more global thing, it's a system most players understand already.
The barbarian attack you at random and also lay siege to your mines this should have been the inspiration for this.
and I think a lot of us expecting something along those lines.

My biggest problem with it is that it does not feel like multiplayer event. it is at core singleplayer event where you try and score maximum points, while the global health bar is going down. therefore it makes no difference whether you play alone or whole server joins too. you get the reward based on your damage.
A simple fix to make it more enjoyable for everyone would be to make it so with each completed level the rewards for everybody increase by some factor. you would still get reward based on your own damage, but more levels of monster beaten, more resources you (and everybody else gets). this way people would want other players to join and would see them as allies and not competitors.
Since on most servers we have reached hydra level 5 - 8 here is how i would change reward system
Defeating level 1: 0.2 multiplayer
Defeating level 2: 0.4 multiplayer
Defeating level 3: 0.6 multiplayer
Defeating level 4: 0.8 multiplayer
Defeating level 5: 1.0 multiplayer
Defeating level 6: 1.2 multiplayer
Defeating level 7: 1.4 multiplayer
Defeating level 8: 1.6 multiplayer
Defeating level 9: 1.8 multiplayer...

While I appreciate the feedback, especially when it's constructive, it's really not necessary for everybody to open their own thread now.
Please use the threads that already exist.

My experience.
Make the onscreen "Hydra" banner moveable or at least down on the lower left side of the screen so it doesn't interfere with general play. I'm tired of having to scroll the screen to see and adjust various elements of the game. The Tavern, Town Hall and so on are elements I tend to every day, many times and the banner is obtrusive.
These things are obviuosly programmed by people that don't actually play the game on a daily basis.
I'm putting 6 of my towns on vacation until something is done.
I certainly hope this isn't a permanent addition to the game. Extremely disappointed!!

7. Little incentive to spend ambrosia 🤑
Even more so now that we know the reward for reaching top 3, there is no actual benefit of using ambrosia during the event. While this isn't an issue for players, it certainty isn't ideal for GameForge.
That is not correct: while Poseidon and other miracles made no difference, you could use Ambrosia to cut the travel and loading times.

Yes but considering low rewards it is not worth spending ambrosia...

you're not serious are you??
designing such a complex system for a team that is not even capable of making a system that would distribute rewards correctly without crashing the servers (and we are only talking about comparing two "tables", 1, the order in the event, vs the reward table and then distributing them).
yes, it's a completely separate section of the game that has nothing to do with ikariam. Why??
because the developers/team behind the creation of our old ikariam are long gone and the new part-timers who are supposed to manage it don't know anything about it - so create a universal principle, throw it into the ikariam skin, and gloriously release it as another expansion , as already said - they can throw the same principle into the skin "ogame", "kingsage..", without having to know the game itself...
always the only thing they managed to find and understand in the source code of Ikariam is the setting of the world statistics (since then we have all those worlds +XX% for something) and the levels of buildings + cities where they changed the "max" to another number...

The software developers that are on the job part time are paid or they do it for free?
If there is a compensation I would like to apply for the position! I feel like there is a need of a workforce, and actually many players could potentially help
Besides, Rastan suggestion looks juicy, +1!

Dear Mr.Andrew
I hope this post finds you well.
Here is a feedback from a player who came 1st in Hydra:
Usually when GF distributes bonus events (I don't mean Hydra) during some weekends or any special event, they give us number of percentage of resources, the sum of the resources could 1k for some players and could be 100k for others, everyone is happy.
Therefore, the Hydra or whatever the names will be in future reward, should be calculated based on player's strength, when I say "player's strength" I mean his total hourly income, that's fair enough to everyone. If the reward doesn't attract me then those events aren't for me and better to keep my ambro for something important.
FYI, the reward was 1.8m and my hourly income is 180k, put yourself in my shoes and see if it's worthwhile the effort and the ambro spent with 3 hours sleeping a day.
And last but not least ,if this perspective is implemented, don't you think players will be encouraged to work harder to improve their kingdoms and possibly spend more ambro for the future events?
Your fair action is highly appreciated.
Warm Regards,
Knight

The recent event has been a fantastic addition, generating significant excitement and enthusiasm among players. The community has thoroughly enjoyed the new challenges and opportunities, and it’s evident that a lot of time and effort went into its creation
