If you have 300 happiness, it takes 54h to fill 200 people? Obviously, that doesn't count burning extra wine to speed it up. This also has a gold loss of ~17k

That seems about right, 200 bonus is 4 / hour.

The gold spent is considerable but it seems we also get some gold back not only resources.

Actually, that is true for advanced accounts with high resource reducers. In my case a hoplite is 32 wood and 29 sulphur, which is 50% higher cost.

I`ve completed the chart of my server as 10th in Alpha, TR.

I spent over 400k of sulfur on units and approx—300 ambrosia to speed up the process.

Attacked the Hydra 55 times but received no return of goods yet.

My total damage score was 37573; the Hydra in our server was on 8th level when the event finished.

Patience... They've already announced things aren't going as planned. The guy who hit #1 on Alpha didn't get his prize yet, either.

If the ambush had been tried on the test server first, there would have been no crash. Why does the test server exist?

The test server is not nearly as active as that this would make any sort of sense.

If "13 wood, 2 wine, 3 marble, 1.5 crystal, and 8.5 sulfur" is correct reward ratio and only top 3 getting special reward, I can attack 2-3 inactive people to get double resources using just 10 mins. It is meaningless to spend many hours in front of the computer for such small rewards.

I suspect an extension deleted the event from the server chain of command, in case of piracy this is not possible, comparison of caper points

To be honest, not all servers are active. There are an average of 200 active players on pirate. Most of them are multi-accounts. The number of individual players is below 100. Do you feel responsible?

It's irrelevant though. Testing the event on the test server first would not have prevented today's crash for the reasons given.

It's as simple as that.

At the very least could remove the new annoying banner, or at least allow us to hide it.

Im not on test, was it not tested first?

I suspect it's not an issue with the code it self but rather they didn't put any flow control in it so it tried to do everything at once which the server couldn't handle.

Hence it might not have shown up on test where there probably isn't as many players.

it's like you put a new engine in your car and it starts and runs but then you take it on the highway and it red lines and blows up.

Explains why some servers didn't crash.

Although if they didn't test it first then they should have.

You misunderstand. Or you want to misunderstand. Since 2008, all versions of the game were tested on the test server. The version would come to the test server first. The test server has become unnecessary in the last 3 years.
