Server Merge Additional Questions

    I also joined their Discord server a while ago, when I found that there are announcements that are not also posted here, in the forum. What can I say, Discord is a game platform and this is a game, so I don't mind them using Discord. I guess I could not argue why they are using two platforms (a forum and a discord server), but could be reasonable, since the forum is more appropriate for discussions.

    What I cannot understand is why don't they post announcements on both platforms. Anyway, reasons, I didn't want to bother with them so I joined ikariam server on discord since anyway I had discord for other games.

    Some things are still in flux. As always.There is also a good deal of coordination to be done internally, such as "are enough sysadmins available at that time?" etc. etc. etc.

    So, once I know the exact starting time, I will add it to the info post.

    Forum predates Discord. The community somewhat naturally gravitated towards Discord, as a result we also moved more and more towards Discord.

    The forum is technically just a relic that we keep alive for a few that for whatever reason refuse to use Discord.

    Main community focus, however, lies with Discord, so that's where we mainly post and react.

    ya I've got discord also but I didn't give them my phone so you can read but not post in the ikariam server.. I guess I could keep it active just for reading but I would very much like them to post info at both places.. or just kill one or the other.. They don't own discord, you would think all info would be posted here where they own the platform.


    but what ever.. at least they aren't posting things exclusively to FB *rolls eyes*

    It's linked in the lobby. It's prominently linked here in the forum.

    We link to Discord in most Social Media posts etc.

    In the last merge few years ago many players got surprised with a sudden disorder to all their citys list. (Ex: my capital went from the first place at the top of the list to the middle)

    Even tho its not a big deal, because it doesnt interfere with our "gameplay" its a bit frustating we are used to find our city in determinated places, and after merge everything was messed up.

    So my question is: Is there any plans to make possible to "reorder" our citys list? If not, the chance to suffer such a terrible mess is still possible in the next merge =O?

    This was a bug, and was fixed in version 10.0.0 (lookup for the changes log).

    So you want the mine level to be 4 digits?


    Because you want "all that effort" to be collected on a single server.

    Yes, there's going to be a bit of loss and a bit of time until levels are higher again.

    In exchange for that you get more active servers. Merging never comes without compromise.

    But can you guarantee that all that donation won't be turned to dust by a bug (or a snap) during the transition?

    Don't forget the feedback platform, which is no longer among us and has access to the shortcut link that Discord cannot access in Ikariam.

    That remained as a sentence in the changes log.


    The bug is still alive.

    It is really crazy that GF started to listen to feedback, as long as I know them they were just doing their thing. But ok, I guess things can change along the way :)

    So what is the plan with the polls? I did like the first settings with some extra building time, faster ships and troop timers here and there. Most feedback was that the options for the setting should be a bit more varried. Because some servers were just the same in settings only the percentages were a downgrade from the other settings.

    I am not playing on a Legacy server, but I am playing with my main account on a vanilla server. To be honest I am happy to get some bonuses. When we merged I didn't think it necessary but since the big update it is nice to get some extra's. Vanilla servers will probably be dead this merge, but it is a fun idea to add a legacy server layout with some bonuses for the people who are in to that.

    Then the requirements to join the discussion there, should be the same as the forum.


    There's no reason to require a cell phone. that's merely an option in discord.

    Sorry, but the merge dates are as they are. Barring any technical or organisational issues that may require a change, they're fixed.

    It's impossible to take everybody's days of celebration or mourning into account same as it is impossible to take things into account that were mentioned before such as "vacation period" etc. Someone always has some reason for disliking the timing. It is what it is, sorry.


    I see 100% ambrosia happy hour offer in game, after the city moving offers so YOU ARE preparing the Chosen Ones for the merge but there is no merge notification yet.....I have my own conclusions why it's done in such obvious secrecy

    Are you going to be sorry and apologize to the player base because they don't even know the merge times and dates? Yes TIMES TOO.

    I do recall August is a summer season for Germany and people enjoy their vacations, even if you show the notification tomorrow, thousands of players won't see it on time, because they'd be out on a vacation and a big (and nasty) surprise will greet them.

    You can announce it a minute before or a day after the merge, I won't be surprised at all, It is what you want, after all.

    Then you should create a support ticket if you transferred your account after the fix.

    If the account was transferred before the fix, the city order is lost.

    Best case is to do it within the 7 days where the old account is still available to enable support to check the old account.

    Haven't heard from the issue during the last softmerge happening for the global ares

    Other games on discord don't have this, and they seem to function ok.. I think their point though was you don't have a cell phone for spam on the board here either but how big of a problem is spam here?

    One way would be to have a verification number in the players lobby and then it could be verified on discord..

    You would need to setup a bot to do this or do it manually which I doubt GF would do since some of the announcements aren't even making it here without players fulfilling that job.

    Verify your phone or don't, up to you.

    It's a necessary precaution to battle spam bots and we will keep using that setting. This is non-negotiable.

    That verification happens between you and Discord and has nothing to do with us, which is, why WE don't have to hand you anything to sign.

    I am curious if it was ever turned off I suspect it was always on and spam was never a real problem and it was just preemptively turned on from the start.


    Have you guys finalized the changes to the servers for the merger or is it still in flux?
