(reported) Appears an error when trying to save the alliance description

  • Can you please provide more details? A screenshot with the displayed error?

Input box will accept only very limited inputs

A-Z, 0-9, spaces, you can also use brackets to insert emoji's but you can't for example use the "picture" feature because that requires a http address including : and /

It wont even accept carriage returns (enter)

    example

    Okay

    Code
    1. 12

    Invalid

    Code
    1. 1
    2. 2

this feature use to work but has been broken for I dunno 5 years or so?

Can we please get this fixed not the first time it's been reported and it did work at one time.

People who had their player info setup before the bug are still fine, like grandfathered in but can't change/edit it.

I use to have a picture on mine but image host started charging and I didn't upgrade to their paid plan I could never update the picture.

Please fix this it can't be that difficult to fix the input validation

A screenshot with your text will be more helpful than an error message...

    I Weep

I thought my explanation of what constitutes an invalid entry was pretty straight forward..

But for people who need pictures to order from Mc'Donald's here ya go

  • See? It's easy to follow instructions... Your text doesn't work because it contains a hidden character called "line break"... That's why I asked for the actual text instead of the error... And yes, there is an issue with images. But you know this already: Image issue

You could put your text like this and it will work, but you know, it's not in the menu at McDonald's...

  • Oh yes look at that mess to circumvent the problem yes great job mate.

Technically you're right it's a line break not a carriage return that I already stated, So reading for the win ;)

now if you want to impress me get it to allow : and /

This is your thread, you reported the problem (and not the first person to do so only the most recent), I have no idea why you're wanting to pick a fight with me but all you're doing is working against your own interest here.

when we both know it's broken.. But I can get as dirty as you like.

P.S diplomacy pages have no such issue not sure why they don't just copy the validation from that to this or even use separate checks, but what ever I don't work here.

  • It's not my thread. But if you want a problem to be solved, you should provide the actual issue. Yes, it's not perfect, but if it works, it works. Maybe the author wanted something similar, or maybe not... How can we help if we don't know the issue?

As for your "/" impress issue, the error message doesn't include special characters, and "/" is a special character. Again, you could argue that links use the "/" but the actual link is not displayed. That's why you can use the "/" in a link but cannot use the "/" to be displayed.

But, if you want my 2 cents on the matter, this "feature" for profile details can be removed entirely since it's not a game breaker. I never used it, not sure anyone uses it at all or, in the best case, to display something more than a text. Also, this thing needs to be moderated as well, so dedicating the few resources Gameforge has on this is not the best resource use.

  • Try this :P

*thumbup* Back to the Future *thumbup*

    Code
    1. *thumbup* [color='#ff0000']B[/color][color='#9999ff']a[/color][color='#993300']c[/color][color='#00ff00']k[/color] [color='#ffff00']t[/color][color='#ff6600']o[/color] [color='#009900']t[/color][color='#009999']h[/color][color='#99ff99']e[/color] [color='#ff99ff'][b]F[/b][/color][color='#0000ff']u[/color][color='#990000']t[/color][color='#ff00ff']u[/color][color='#ff9999']r[/color][color='#660066']e[/color] *thumbup*

maybe you can give me an example my profile use to have a picture, the image host stopped being free, I went to update the profile years ago and ran into this bug.. I was never able to fix the picture so I eventually just removed it this wasn't in the text.. didn't seem to matter.
